Brian Lenzo is back in business.
This is no April's Fool joke. Blue Palms Brewhouse is back. It was only two months, but for its fanatic local supporters, it seemed like two years. But you can stop holding your breath: Goldenvoice signed a lease for the Music Box Theatre next door, which enabled Blue Palms to get the sublease to return to the business of providing one of L.A.'s best beer selections. Owner Brian Lenzo says, "We were so moved by the outpouring of love and support. It kept us strong when we were down and wondering if we would ever be back in the Music Box. Hollywood is our home and we are thrilled to be back."

Blue Palms will reward those loyal patrons with a Grand Re-opening bash this Sunday, April 1, from noon until closing time. Wristbands cost $40 and get you 10 taster beers. The beer list will be extra-special, according to bar manager Matt Olesh. Pliny the Younger will be a highlight, but there will be dozens of other superb brews to sample. Needless to say, full pours alsowill be available.

Jimmy Han, owner of the popular Beer Belly in Koreatown, tells us, "Hollywood is, well, Hollywood. It deserves a world-class beer bar and that is what Blue Palms is. They were sorely missed when they were closed, and the entire L.A. beer community is excited to have them back."

Agreed, Ian. But my guess is that the tickets are just a way to avoid the chaos that beer geeks usually bring to events like this. Not only is it a re-opening bash for a much-loved beer bar, but they're tapping what is probably the last Younger keg in the city. $40 likely reflects the opportunity to be there more than the actual cost of the tasters themselves. That said, I'll see you on Tuesday. :)

I hate to sound negative but something about charging for a "Grand Reopening" just rubs me the wrong way, this should be a celebration, not something to make $$ from.  And when you add in the additional fact that any Blue Palms regular can tell you that on $4 pint nite Tuesday you can get 10 full pours for $40.00 instead of 10 tasters, it becomes even more of a head scratcher!

OK I have to edit my comment! I have been given new information which makes my comment above appear to be written in ignorance, which it was!

Blue Palms will be open for regular business on the day of the event! You DO NOT NEED TO BUY A WRIST BAND in order to be part of the celebration as I previously thought! You can still come down and take part in the Grand Re-Opening without having to purchase the wristband! I really appreciate Brian reaching out and straitening me out!Cheers!
