Jason Bernstein on Craft Beer: Pliny the Younger, Dark Lord + Extreme Beer Mania
Want a beer right now? More specifically, want a pint of some terribly cool ale or rare craft beer brewed by a solitary guy in an undisclosed location and sold for only two days a year? If that, or something like that, sounds like your idea of a good time, then you should read today's feature food story from Jason Bernstein, Golden State's beer guru, who has written a lovely piece about the state of craft beer in Los Angeles. ![]()
Ted Soqui Jason Bernstein, with beer
The craft beer community needs Pliny the Younger. It needs Black Tuesday or Dark Lord or any number of limited releases, in the same way the wine community needs the 85 DRC Romanee Conti and the Beanie Baby community needs Peanut the Royal Blue Elephant. They represent a kind of brass ring, as well as underscore tangible galvanization of a community with shared aesthetic ideals.
