Cousins Maine Lobster Truck Rolls Out

Cousins Maine Lobster
Two cousins hot for shellfish, lobster delivered daily from Maine and a stove on wheels: Cousins Maine Lobster Truck soft-opens from April 27-29 in L.A. and starts serving to the masses on May 4. It's not your typical frozen lobster-dispensing truck, explains co-owner Jim Tselikis. "Beyond our storyline," he says, "we are embracing the education we can offer customers. Amazing seafood, a family story and the chance to learn about the Maine lobster industry, the fishermen and the process of catching lobsters." The menu, which hasn't been released yet, ranges from $6 for smaller items to $12 for a lobster roll.

Cousins Sabin Lomac and Tselikis grew up near Portland in southern Maine, where they were no strangers to steaming red lobsters. Despite spending years apart on opposite sides of the country, they reconnected about two years ago, combining their childhood passion to create a lobster-centric food truck. And they hope it won't stop there -- Lomac and Tselikis are in talks about a brick-and-mortar restaurant. If all goes as planned (does it ever?), there will be another opening announcement in the next six to eight months.

For more details on the truck's official launch in early May, follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

In the United States, Canada and Philippines "truck" is usually reserved for commercial vehicles larger than normal cars including pickups and other vehicles having an open load bed.

I just visited this truck for the first time today. It was parked on Olympic Blvd in Santa Monica.  I tried the Connecticut Lobster Roll for $13. OMG...SOOOO GOOD!!!!!! Very fresh meat and they are not stingy with the serving!  They also had GREAT customer service and I didn't get the name of the man who took my order, but he was a super cutie!! I can't wait to try other items on the menu.
