10 Best Tacos in Los Angeles

Sampler plate at Guisados

1. Guisados:
The most difficult thing you will encounter at Guisados is the menu. There are so many guisados -- stewed meats and vegetables -- and only so much room in your stomach. And so, unless you're really set on a particular filling, your best bet is to order the sampler plate that come with six mini-tacos, each one filled with a fantastic meat or vegetable housed in a deliciously chewy handmade tortilla. These tacos are the reason why Guisados tied for first place (along with Mariscos Jalisco) in L.A. Taco's Taco Madness 2012, and we wholeheartedly agree with the vote. After you finish those six samplers, you might still have room for at least one full-size taco, which will bring you back full circle to your original dilemma of so many flavors, so very rapidly decreasing stomach capacity. You'll have to choose wisely now, but rest assured that you can never choose incorrectly. And don't forget the tamales. 2100 E. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd., L.A.; (323) 264-7201.

Heads up! Check out this review online of a sketchy dump in Hermosa called “Hot’s Kitchen” “Really and Truly---**WORST** Restaurant experience--*Ever*…” “....And that is saying a lot. I used to work in restaurants so I know of what I speak. You know now as a patron when they cut corners, when their staff is untrained and if they're following health regulations. On more than one occasion friends & family of ours have tried this place. Each and every time an EPIC disappointment. Epic. From the servers being rude and us witnessing them not washing their hands (yuck!)—to the food being thoroughly tasteless and disgusting—there are no words to describe how inexcusable this miserable, filthy place is. On top of everything else some of their servers are on an STD site (double yuck!)—IN any case—this place disappoints on *every level*; from bad food to terrible service to foul health violations. Don’t even consider ruining your night—you deserve better. We all do.”

Tacos El Gavilan is like crack, so addicting, I even recylce cans just to get enough to buy some Gavilan tacos with the RED SALSA!!!!! Loads of it, on everything!!! RED SALSA from Gavilan. Check it out before the world ends.

Interesting list. I would take Taco Por Favor right OFF but I can't disagree with the top 5. In conclusion, tacos rock.

El Rincon Taurino in North Hills. Best tacos. Open late. I prefer the one on Van Nuys to the one up the street on Nordhoff, because it has a juice bar.

#1 Apache's Tacos on 1st and Boyle in E.L.A. have the Best Carne Asada Tacos, period.  Simple, yet perfect.  Best Horchata as well.  An L.A. landmark since the 50's.  Tien Nguyen? 'No mamés'

I honestly was underwhelmed by Mexicali Taco. It was good, but hardly life changing. Tacos Leo, however, now THAT'S a life-changing taco. Love how the guy caresses the cone of meat with the tortillas before slicing.

Your inability to use google maps/get up off the couch has zero to do with the quality of this list.
