Jinya Ramen Bar Finally Open on Sawtelle
After what seemed like a year -- and was in fact a year -- of waiting, Jinya has finally opened its outpost on Sawtelle near the corner of Olympic. In the time it took them to open, at least three other ramen spots have opened nearby. ![]()
A. Scattergood Jinya on Sawtelle
The menu is almost identical to the Ramen Jinya in Studio City: Tonkotsu ramen -- including a black version with black garlic oil and a spicy red version -- soupless ramen, gyoza and organic tofu made to order at your table.
The restaurant is decked out with a huge black stone bell, which the manager explained is modeled on those in Japan used to communicate with the gods. In case you're worried about eating under a giant hunk of stone hanging from the ceiling in earthquake country, don't fret -- it's made of Styrofoam.
