The Library Association of Los Angeles rounds up a panel of chefs on July 17 featuring some of L.A.'s most influential downtown restaurateurs, including Ilan Hall (The Gorbals), Judy Han (Blue Cow Kitchen), John Sedlar (Rivera), Ricardo Zarate (Mo-Chica) and Patricia Zarate (Homegirl Café). Host and moderator Evan Kleiman of KCRW's Good Food will discuss with the chefs ways in which downtown's burgeoning food scenes has been "curating our cultural palate."

From the rustic Peruvian creations of Zarate to Hall's nouvelle Scottish-Jewish cooking to Sedlar's haute-Latin flavors, the discussion will focus on how the influence of L.A.'s ethnic eating traditions has found its way into high cuisine and blended together in ways that are pushing "flavor forward" for local diners.

The event takes place at the L.A. Central Library's Mark Taper Auditorium on Tuesday, July 17, at 7 p.m. and is free of charge. Reservations are strongly recommended.
