Heirloom Tomatoes
Just a quick reminder that although many Los Angeles-area farmers markets will be closed for business on Wednesday (including West L.A., Gardena, Lawndale, Altadena and Barnsdall Park), the morning Santa Monica Farmers Market will be open during its regular hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

If you haven't visited the Wednesday SMFM, this week might provide you with the chance to get a jump on the usual crowds, thanks to the holiday. Stone fruits are reaching their sweetest peak right now, as are late-season cherries and an amazing selection of heirloom tomatoes. In addition, there's always a good chance you'll run into a local chef picking up some ingredients for the specials board (a holiday for you means overtime for a chef).
