Lucky Rice Night Market Coming to L.A.
Lucky Rice, the New York-based Asian food festival whose "culinary council" includes the likes of Anthony Bourdain, David Chang, Marcus Samuelsson and Masaharu Morimoto, is moving out west -- well, further west, that is. On the heels of its Las Vegas event back in June, Lucky Rice laid out plans for its next stop in Los Angeles, announcing an Aug. 4 event at the Helms Bakery complex just east of Culver City.

Not to be outdone by their East Coast contemporaries, L.A. Lucky Rice will be hosted by Lukshon's Sang Yoon and will feature more than a dozen chefs, including Jet Tila (the Charleston), Kris Yenbamroong (Night + Market), Bryant Ng (Spice Table), and Jenee Kim of Koreatown favorite Park's BBQ. The chefs will be serving a variety of pan-Asian street food inspired by the ubiquitous night markets popular from Taipei to Kuala Lumpur.
There also will be a selection of 16 Asian-style cocktails created by some of the city's most popular bartenders, plus a craft-beer station curated by Father's Office. Live DJ sets and a roster of special guests (Lisa Ling, Christina Topsoe, James Murphy) are expected as well. Tickets are available online: $50 for general admission, $88 for VIP.
