22-Year-Old Suspect Charged, Three Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Speeding Collision near 28th Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (April 23, 2024) Anthony Knox was arrested Saturday, and multiple were injured in a speeding collision on Peoria and 28th Avenue. According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers observed a vehicle driving recklessly at a high speed. Upon noticing the patrol vehicle, the suspect promptly accelerated away. Shortly after, the suspect collided with multiple vehicles near the old Metrocenter on Peoria Avenue near 28th Avenue. In an attempt to avoid the crash, a patrol officer swerved and inadvertently struck a child who had entered the roadway. Investigators report that the child had exited one of the vehicles involved in the collision. Medical personnel transported the child to a nearby hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Additionally, two other male individuals sustained injuries. Following initial procedures, officers arrested and booked Knox into jail, while others who attempted to flee the scene were detained.
