Gordon Ramsay is a chef who is probably more famous for his television screaming tirades than his food. Today, Los Angeles gets a chance to focus on the edible portion of Ramsay's talents with the opening of The Fat Cow at the Grove. It's only right that the name of the restaurant is modeled after one of Ramsay's insults.

Despite the slightly hostile name, the press materials promise a friendly experience. The quote from Ramsay goes like this: "The concept for The Fat Cow came from my desire to have a neighborhood restaurant that you could go to all the time to just relax and enjoy a terrific meal."

More from the press release:

Dishes include Lobster Mac & Cheese, the short rib-and-Kobe beef Fat Cow Burger, Pepper Crusted Wood Roasted Long Rib with minted fingerling potatoes, specialty sandwiches, a wood-burning oven for pizzas featuring a variety of locally produced meats and cheeses; with highlights that include the Vodka, Tomato, Mozzarella Pizza and Spicy Sausage, Burrata, Fennel Pizza. Additionally, the extensive selection of salads will take advantage of the farm fresh ingredients sought and bought daily, and includes the standout Skinny Cow Chopped Salad made with Tuscan kale, cabbage, carrots, radish and pumpkin seeds and the Tuna Nicoise Salad featuring blue lake beans, fingerling potatoes and seasoned Ahi Tuna. The menu is complimented with an abundance of distinctive sides and starters including the Meatballs in tomato sauce with Parmesan cheese and the Fat Cow Chicken Sticks with spicy dipping sauces.

The chef is the latest winner of Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen television show. JUST KIDDING!! No, the chef is Mathew Woolf, who is British but has been cooking in the U.S. since 2008. In California, Woolf's resume includes a stint as chef de cuisine at FIG Restaurant at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica, and executive chef at West Restaurant and Lounge, located atop the Hotel Angeleno.

Of course, this isn't Ramsay's first foray into the Los Angeles dining scene. He opened Gordon Ramsay at the London West Hollywood in 2008, but sold the restaurant in 2009 under some financial duress.

The Fat Cow is open for lunch and dinner service daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. There doesn't seem to be an official website right now, but they do have a Facebook page.
