What's The Most Underrated Pie In Los Angeles?

Well, we've had our fun with underrated burgers. But it's time to move on. There's plenty of other underrated food in this town, we just know it. And what better to focus on during this, the most pie-laden of seasons, than pie? We want to know which pies (the sweet kind, not the savory or pizza pie variety) deserve accolades that have eluded them thus far.

What do you think is the most underrated pie in L.A.? Let us know in the comments. if there's a specific flavor of pie we should be focusing on, let us know that as well. Next week, we'll take those answers, pick the best suggestions, and set up a poll here on Squid Ink. The two pies with the most votes will get a visit from us, the LA Weekly critics, and a winner will be announced -- the most underrated pie in town.

Virtually any pie at The Pie Hole downtown. Always delish!

@bennydarko Sure - if you love thick, underbaked, leaden crusts. Their fillings are good, their crusts are absolutely horrible. I'd rather eat Martino's prefab pies at Phillippe's.

The banana cream pie at Clementine is fantastic. They even make the graham cracker crust from scratch. The chocolate cream pie they make is also delicious.

Chocolate haupia pie at the Local Place (basically, the King's Hawaiian outlet bakery) in Torrance/Gardena on Western. Heck, anything there. Nobody knows. Everyone expects bread - but this is one of the best bakeries in town, hands down.
