99 Essential L.A. Restaurants 2013: A Google Map

It's that time again. Our annual, or mostly annual, 99 Essential L.A. Restaurants issue is now out. Thus it's time to pick up a copy or two, check the online list, look through the gallery of Anne Fishbein's stunning photos -- all of which you may want to avoid doing when overly hungry. To help you in your city-wide journey, we've also put together a Google Map of the 99 as a handy tool for when you visit -- or revisit -- some or all of the many restaurants that we've picked as "essential" for 2013.

See the interactive map after the jump.

Really? Only a few spots in the SF Valley? What ? Do you people have a hard on for Dim Sum joints in the SG Valley? Where's Boneyard Bistro? And if you're going to list restaurants in suburbs, where's South Bay, and Long Beach? I mean understand there might only be zero, one or two dots in more standard suburban communities like San Dimas or Simi Valley, but come on now. There are great options in the the Valley, South Bay and Long Beach.

We didn't make the map, but don't forget us down here in Long Beach! We have a ton of great locally owned restaurants!

this map is a joke.  Canele is placed in Highland Park  and Racion is in Altadena ?  c'mon... where's the quality control over there ??!

The Valley includes a full third of Los Angeles... I think it deserves a little more representation.  There are quite a few worthy mentions beyond the two included.

Just wanted to let you know that Canelé is pinned wrong on the map - the restaurant is actually on Glendale Blvd. in Atwater Village (map incorrectly puts it on Highlight Park on Fig).

Thanks for putting this list together!

Yep, didn't mean to dog on you guys but those are two of my faves so I noticed it right off the bat. BTW, great feature! The map is informative and the write ups on each restaurant are concise and well written.

Skip McCraw Thanks for pointing out the issue with Little Dom's. Fixed it! And re: Ricky's Fish Tacos, we spoke to Ricky after the closure and we're told it's temporary, and that he's working to reopen ASAP. We're convinced Ricky's remains essential, even with a short closure!

Little Dom's is not in Universal City and Ricky's Fish Taco was shut down by the Health Dept. about a month ago.
