Mimosa at The Misfit

For those who see brunch as an extension of weekend festivities, there is the bottomless mimosa, a drink that is kept refilled until you either call it quits or brunch hours end. It's typically made of equal parts sparkling wine (more often Champagne) and chilled orange juice (preferably fresh-squeezed), but there are restaurants who pour in other types of juice in lieu: Pomegranate, strawberry, and grapefruit, to name a few.

The origin of the cocktail is not entirely concrete, but historians point to two possibilities. Under its identity as a mimosa, it was born in 1925 at the Ritz Hotel in Paris. Four years before that, it was known as the Buck's Fizz, named after the Buck's Club in London. In those days, it wasn't uncommon to find it splashed with a touch of grenadine. For reasons unknown, the French version became the quintessential Sunday brunch beverage.

Whether you call it a mimosa (which we opt for as to not break tradition) or a Buck's Fizz, here are a couple of places around Los Angeles to enjoy flutes of the cocktail at your weekend leisure (in no particular rank):

4. The Roof on Wilshire:
At $22 per order, mimosas at The Roof on Wilshire are the more expensive of all the options, but then again there is the sweeping view of the Hollywood Hills. 3. The Misfit:
At the cheaper price within the longest time frame, the endless mimosa with fresh juice (though not made in-house) at $12 can run until 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
