Daikokuya in Arcadia
As Daikokuya prepares to celebrate 11 years of delivering steaming bowls of tonkotsu ramen to the slurping masses, it has been amazing to watch the rest of Los Angeles catch up. There are ramen shops in Torrance for the noodle-obsessed, in West L.A. for those who follow best-of lists, and all over Little Tokyo, where Daikokuya's most heralded location sits. This city is positively ramen-obsessed.

Now, Daikokuya is looking to give back to all of those hungry hordes that have braved the mild Los Angeles weather for a shot at their rich pork ramen. The namesake Daikoku Ramen, a savory mix of long-simmered pork bone stock, kurobuta pork slices, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, green onions and a soft boiled egg, regularly retails for $8.95. But from the date of their 11 year anniversary on Wednesday, Feb. 20 through Friday, Feb. 22, those same bowls will be $5 (at the Little Tokyo location only). The generous offer is valid for all three days, from open to close.

Java junkies rejoice. For those unwilling to fork out more than a buck for caffeine, 7-Eleven is selling coffee for only $1. The promotion is only on Wednesdays and lasts until the end of January.

That means any size cup and all the sugar, flavorings, topping and cream you can possibly want are included in that price. The promotion was put in place to celebrate the convenience store's new Brazilian Dark Roast, a premium blend coffee made from 100 percent Arabica beans from southwestern Brazil.

We love a party where guests get a gift. Tomorrow, that's what's happening at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. In honor of the company's 50th year, three 12 oz. specialty drinks will be sold for 50 cents: English Toffee Latte, English Toffee Ice Blended and Chai Tea Latte. The event will take place from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at participating locations in California and Arizona.

Coffee Bean is kicking off a year-long celebration of their origins, by showcasing their "heritage" beverages. English Toffee, created in the 1960s, helped introduced the concept of specialty coffee drinks. Chai Tea Latte, one of the chain's most popular beverages, was first served in 1998.

BlackboardEats' New BlackboardList Gives Restaurants More Ways to Woo You

BlackboardList.jpg
Via Los Angeles' BlackboardList website
Probably our favorite restaurant deal site, BlackboardEats, which has managed to maintain our loyalty despite going from being a free service to charging to back to free again -- and adding on the now-discontinued online shopping component -- has once again reinvented itself. The (still free) service from which subscribers get daily emails offering (free!) discounts to some of L.A.'s most notable restaurants is now giving those restaurants more of a chance to take the reigns with a new component, BlackboardList.

Via this new sister service, restaurants are encouraged to come up with their own special deals for subscribers instead of being chained to the 30% discount model. This comes in addition to BlackboardEats weekly specials, meaning diners simply have more exclusive offers to choose from. (At no cost! Did we mention that?)
