Fashion Week Diary: Crispin & Basilio's Chic Casual

Crispin & Basilio, the line by Donny Barrios, is the kind of stuff you wear when you want to exude a relaxed, chic, slightly preppy air, yet not appear like you purchased the entire J. Crew catalog. Barrios's clothes are casual, fresh and clean looking, with construction interesting enough that you'll want to keep them around for many seasons to come.

Spring 09 to him means a palette of pale pearl greys, stingray browns, bisques, antique whites, blushing tans and corals. It means culottes, drape-y tulip dresses, woven skirts, and silk crepe boyfriend vests. If these clothes are machine washable, then I'd say to them let's get married. Let's elope to Barbados. I'll wear Barrios's version of the Little Black Dress, with the cap sleeves alighting upon the shoulders like bird wings.

Why does every model in these pictures try to look like Julia Stiles? They all failed.
