Tonight at Sugar in Silverlake, the Mae Shi play at the Spectrum art opening (see below).

The Fleet Foxes, of Seattle, bring their harmonies to the Echo on Saturday and Spaceland on Sunday. Also check out my interview with singer Robin Pecknold in this week's print edition.

For me, the weekend should float by effortlessly. The work's done, the freedom is so strong you can almost feel it, and Sunday night at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, the amazing Cinespia presents the original film The T.A.M.I. Show on the big screen.

Cinespia's release captures what's in store: "With performances by Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Jan and Dean, Lesley Gore, James Brown, The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones. Young director Steve Binder made his feature debut with this film of a 1964 concert at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium featuring infamous garage and surf acts, Motown's brightest stars, and British Invasion legends."

Cinespia's founder, John Wyatt, says that only four copies of the film exist -- it's never been released on DVD -- and that he tracked down the copy that's screening on Sunday from the Mighty QT, Quintin Tarantino. What's more, the Beach Boys estate was kind enough to provide long unseen footage of their performance of the film. This may be the one and only time you'll ever see this footage.

To boot, selector (and insanely obsessive record collector) DJ Dante Carfagna is being flown out to DJ before and after the screening.

Gates open at 7:30pm, Film at 9:00pm. There are $10 donation tickets available at gate.
