No Age to Cover Entire Husker Du Album with "Special Guest" at All Tomorrow's Parties

Categories: Festivals

But which one? Which album, that is, and which special guest?

Based on this excellent interview that No Age did with Bob Mould, and vice versa, for the LA Record, we've got a pretty good idea. The entire conversation feels like a Mutual Admiration Society meeting, and as a result the talk is open and relaxed. The two No Agers and the former Husker Du lead singer talk at length about HD's output.

After reading the interview, you can probably figure out from the tone that there's a good likelihood that No Age will be doing Husker Du's Warehouse: Songs and Stories at this fall's All Tomorrow's Parties US. But we'll say this: ATP likes anniversaries, and this year is the 25th of Husker Du's transcendent SST-released Zen Arcade. It'd be something to see No Age cover "Pink Turns to Blue." (For the record: New Day Rising!)

As far as who the "special guest" will be? Duh. We surely can't imagine that No Age is going to skip over Mould and ask Grant Hart to do it. But that's idle speculation.

The entire Sunday of All Tomorrow's Parties, which takes place Sept. 11-13 at Kutsher's Country Club in Monticello, New York, looks incredible:

The Curator: Flaming Lips

The Deal: Every act that plays will perform an exclusive special show for this event. The Boredomscontinue their BOREDRUM series, one that blew minds at the La Brea Tarpits last summer, though they'll only be doing nine drummers, not 99. No Age does a whole LP by Husker Du. Deerhoof will collaborate with visual artist Martha Colburn. ATP's site explains Caribou's set: "Caribou will perform as Caribou Vibration Ensemble, with a 4 piece horn section, 4 drummers and a choir and guests that include Kieran Hebden (Four Tet/Fridge/Kieran Hebden & Steve Reid), Koushik (Stones Throw Records), John Schmersal (Enon, Brainiac), Kathryn Bint (One Little Plane), Ahmed Gallab (Sinkane) and more." Stardeath and White Dwarfs round out the day, though a few more will be added.
