Videothing Does Black Lips at El Rey: "Better Than the Warped Tour"
Better late than never on this, but totally worth the wait. A few weeks back Videothing used the West Coast Sound guestlist portal to make their way with video camera into the Black Lips show at the El Rey Theatre.
Predictably, the camera caught a lot of action, a lot of testosterone -- a near-fight over a broken guitar -- and at least one Brit pumped up on the action declaring that the Atlanta band was "better than the Warped Tour." High praise, indeed.
Cole Alexander of the Black Lips: rockin' the faux-bald
We were particularly struck by Lips guitarist Cole Alexander's awesome new haircut, which, if there were justice in the world, would soon replace the faux-hawk as the style of choice among the hipsterati men. Mohawks were rebellious thirty years ago, fellas; if you really want to shock the masses, there's no better cut than the "faux-bald."
