In Diamond Dogs' Wake, Sex Dwarf and Bardot Fridays offer two new nights of Hollywood Sparkle

Categories: Nightranger

Though it only lasted for a couple of months, the rock n' roll revelry of Diamond Dogs at H' Wood is already the stuff of LA club-land legend, both for its fabulously mixed crowd (Bryan Ferry, Keith Richards' daughters, Marilyn Manson exes Dita Von Teese and Rose MacGowan, the Gossip's Beth Ditto, Anton Yelchin doing the visuals) and for its soundtrack (rock is the exception, not the rule at Hollywood dance spots these days).

DD was also the hap that brought Club Cherry's Bryan Rabin out of clubbing retirement (he had a successful events company for several years) and as we've reported, he promises he will be back with something new soon. It's no secret that a rift between he and co-promoter Kelly Cole led to Dogs dissolution, but Cole and the clubs' other promoter, Ian Cripps, (a Warner Bros. A&R man and the son of LA Guns' Mick Cripps) seem determined to keep the rump-rockin' going.

They continue to throw the bash at H' Wood, minus the name and Rabin crowd, and have even brought in new "guest-hosts" including The Lady Tigra, Aimee Osbourne and The OC's Willa Holland (disclosure: we were one of these hosts - i.e. we invited pals to the party - when the club was under Rabin's reign). It remains to be seen what will happen with that Thursday, but two brand new Friday fetes in the same vicinity, both debuting tonight, seem ready to grab the multi-generational glamster gaggles, art tarts and rockers that DD gathered and seemed to get dancing again.

Part-time PR maven/full-time scenester Rich Royal and some well-known promoter pals including P.Y.T's Gracie Cakes, are joining the cool crew who do Fridays at Bardot, adding resident DJ Adam 12. We expect a mixed bag of tricks soundtrack-wise. (It's sure to be very different from the She Wants Revenge beat-maker's vintage hip hop night at Temporary Spaces). One thing you can count on, this one will be another dress-to-excess kind of event. Royal's recent birthday bash saw feathers, lace and lots of plunging necklines.

Over at Beauty Bar, DJ/photog Apollo Staar introduces Sex Dwarf, a saucy new dance orgy he describes as "70s Italo Disco and UK Punk going head to head, Electronica and Rock battling to the death, and classic late 70s and 80s Electro mixed with current synth beats." Go-go dancers, strobe lights and Staar's retro-garbed pals promise to make this one anything but another night on Cahuenga.

Reports from both shindigs coming soon in Nightranger.
