Details of the memorial for LA garage rock legend and frontman of The Seeds Sky Sunlight Saxon have just been released through the artist's official MySpace blog. The event, to take place on July 24 at the Echoplex, will include performances from Spirits in the Sky, a collaboration between Billy Corgan (who had previously worked with Saxon) and The Electric Prunes' Mark Tulin, members of various incarnations the Seeds and Mike Randle of Baby Lemonade. More artists will be announced in the coming days.

Guests are asked to wear "flower children" clothing and to bring flowers to the tribute concert.

Saxon passed away in Austin, Texas, where he had recently moved, on June 25 from heart and kidney failure due to an unspecified internal organ infection. As part of the Seeds, he is perhaps best known for the mid-'60s hits "Can't Seem to Make You Mine" and "Pushin' Too Hard." He remained an active musician until the time of his death, and had played a show only days before he was hospitalized. Saxon, who was born Richard Marsh, had a tour planned for August and several music projects that the press release states will be issued in the not-so-distant future. A documentary on The Seeds is planned to hit theaters in 2010.
