Ennio Morricone to Make Los Angeles Debut (Finally!) at the Hollywood Bowl

Quentin Tarantino's new Inglourious Basterds has been getting lots of critical hooha for its soundtrack and use of music. Nothing new there. But you may not know that a lot of the stuff on the soundtrack is music by legendary Italian film composer Ennio Morricone. The composer is best known for his spaghetti western scores for Sergio Leone, but has created one of the most respected bodies of work in the history of the medium.

Oddly, for someone so entrenched in the film world, Morricone, 80, has never performed in Los Angeles before. That's changing. Press release snippet after the jump.

Legendary Italian maestro Ennio Morricone will conduct the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra in an evening of music drawn from his most famous film scores -- including The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly; The Untouchables; Cinema Paradiso; Once upon a Time in America; The Mission; Once upon a Time in the West; A Fistful of Dollars; Sacco and Vanzetti; The Battle of Algiers; A Fistful of Dynamite; and U Turn -- at Hollywood Bowl on October 25. The evening, which also includes participation by the Angeles Chorale, is billed as "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," and will be Morricone's only U.S. concert appearance of the year.
