• Alright, while I didn't have fun the first time I went to this club, I went again last night and had a blast. Almost a year later, they're packing them in here more than ever-- and the dancefloor is nice and sweaty from early til 2. Congratulations. I concede.

• LOOOOOOOOVE MR BLACK L.A.! I have never been to the one in NY, or heard anythign about it (sorry). But I have been going to this one every week, and it keeps getting better! It's such a nice change from the cookie-cutter Gay-LA bars. People are dressed in fun outfits, everyone is approachable, and there to have fun. Cannot say enough great things about DJ Josh Peace who sets me free EVERY TUESDAY! If you ahve not gone, go. They have parking across the street, and Hawt guys galore.

• An overrated halloween party in september, the whole club kid thing is dead, give it a rest. You can find great music in LA, you just gotta know where to look because its knowhere near weho or Mr. Blacks NYC for that matter, you won't find it at some strictly gay only club where being a hot mess of a whore can get you too the front of the line either. Fucken wake up or suffer the tragedy of your fucked up drugged induced scene.

• wow - critics are tough. not affiliated to mr black and someone who has clubbed in the best venues on every continent. this was a GREAT club with a cool choice of location (yes, i wish it was closer to me but then it is NOT supposed to be a gay club) as the space was lavish & large but not ridiculous, the music was on the mark most of the night providing a not too loud background to some interesting conversation provided by a stimulating, eclectic, adventurous, sexy gathering of LA eye candy while offering rhythm to make me want to move. i think you can tell. i liked it. for the first time i found a crowd in LA that looked like they cared enough to dress up and go out for a fun, grown up, night on the town. give me this over the ripped T, true religion, flip-flop venue ANY DAY. congratulations to the hosts! i am gathering my friends to make this a regular Tuesday night event!

• OMFG!!! I am soo sad I missed the opening. Mr. Blacks NYC is one of my fav clubs in NY ...i liked the old one better but its still a great concept great DJs wich is something the LA gay scene is in dire need of...I just recently moved back to LA from NY and what i miss the most about NY is the nightlife its on a completely dif level than we are in LA. im looking forward to next week!

• the music was great! i want more robot dance music fewer '80s songs! did anyone that said nasty things (in a bad way, and i don't mean bad good like i'm bad jamal, you know it) even go to the club? it was fabulous!

• I sorta dug it. I took a night off on a school night and found some guy to give it to me in the toilet. He was a dirty, naughty little bitch. It'd been a while, so it was really cool. -D

• I would say this. Mr. black nyc wasn't perfect the first night, but it evolved into what it is. the original location was not roving and was very small and dark with low ceilings and created a much more enclosed atmosphere. it's not an exact replica, but la has some of the same elements as the nyc club. the music needs some work to really be like a dance party but part of the problem is the venue--everyone wants to be in the larger outside area, which isn't where the dancing is. anyway, give it a chance... let it evolve.

• I wonder what the unaffiliated NYC Mr Blackers thought. Anyone? I've been a few times in NYC and had a great time every time. The vibe was dirtier and the people were less polished, yet it was hotter. Last night really just seemed like all the people that go to Rhonda, Mustache, Shits and Giggles, and any other gay hipster club in LA packed into the patio of the Avalon where the sound sucked and there was no room to dance. Rhonda rocks, Mustache bangs, and S&G is the shit. Why do we need this?

• I don't want to do anything shitty. Why are you being so mean? I just had different expectations based upon a brand that has been established in New York nightlife. I thought there wasn't any chance they could be fulfilled since the venue was a poor choice, and is such an integral part of the rotating concept of the NY club. I really don't see why you're taking this so personally. If you had fun, you should go back. I'm just trying to relay to those who might read this article that the concept of this being MR BLACK is all marketing, and that this is not the LA cousin of the event in NY where you can truly let your hair down and praise the lord. Have fun next week, girl!

• So find a shitty dance den in LA I dare you! What do you expect from them, to sprinkle snow on the door when its winter for that REAL New York feel. go blow. again give them a chance to find themselves. I'm a fan.

• If it's not like the one in NY, then why call it MR BLACK? To me, it was a bastardization of what is a truly fabulous dance den concept... something that could have been accomplished in the right way if it was more about the quality of the event and less about the receipts.

• Mr BLACK LA thank you for coming to town. Yes its not like the original in New York but who expected it to be, this is LA. I had a blast. Drinks were $8 from what I can remember. (P above)go back into your shitty hole and die and give mr Black a chance to stand on its own 2 feet. I give it a thumbs up and will be there next Tuesday.

• The only thing Mr. Black LA has in common with Mr. Black NY is that silly sign. There is so much of Paris Hilton's vaginal fluid on the floor that weeds of Hollywood tragedy are literally sprouting from the rafters of this bar where cocktails average at about $15, leaving most gals on a budget just enough for one drink only. The music began with what was essentially a decently curated gay-oriented iPod playlist, and segued into something that wasn't entirely unrespectable but still wasn't amazing. Mr. Black NY rotates raw space venues in an exciting way, brings true musical talent to the floor, and understands that one drink is not enough for any queen. The verdict? Mr. Black LA is Beige after it turned brown and moved to a less convenient, less exciting venue with shittier options for parking. Thumbs down if you're comparing it to the original. M�o menos if you go into it with expectations of it being just what it is.

• This event was fun if you're into standing around (the Avalon) and looking at cool costumes and outfits. Last time we went to Mr Black in NYC, we dressed to sweat and left wetter than your mom's cotton panties.
