Avenged Sevenfold Drummer, James Owen Sullivan ("The Rev"), Found Dead at 28

Avenged Sevenfold drummer James Owen Sullivan, better known by his stage name "The Rev," was found dead in his Huntington Beach home earlier today on December 28 at approximately 1 p.m., according to the Orange County Register and Blabbermouth. He was 28 years old.

The Orange County Coroner's Office is investigating his death but at this time the SoCal musician is thought to have died of natural causes. However some fans on Blabbermouth are skeptical, claiming the drummer had a history of hard drug use.

He was my drum teacher for that whole time, and he taught me alot. He wrote the song "fiction" because he had a very vivid dream that his time was nearing its end. Aren't you adorable? Avenged isn't a metal band. They even said so themselves. They don't belong to a certain genre, they are more punk-metal. Jimmy was such an amazing person, even if you didn't think so. Everyone has opinions but like I said on the other comment I replied to nobody should wish death on someone. If you don't think about others when you write something on a blog like this you shouldn't speak. The band wasn't just a band they were a family and still are. You may not like them but others do, they don't need people like you to tell them if they are good or not. And quite frankly I think they don't give a fuck. Everyone has feelings and even if they look tough and hard on the outside they have feelings on the inside. They lost their best friend and all you can do is bash on the band and wish death on them. I know the real story ; he was born with an enlarged heart and wasn't going to live a very long life, and he knew the way he would have died would have been very painfull so he took his heart pills with beer and well everybody knows not to drink beer with pills. and he 'overdosed'. James Sullivan. He was an amazing drummer and I know somewhere deep inside he inspired us all. I became a fan just before Christmas 09 and at the time i knew shit all about the band and i still dint know much untill like febuary/march 2010. I dint find out about the Revs death till Jan 4 when my friend told me, and back then it dint affect me much cause i dint even know the guys name but i did feel bad cause he had died and i feel that way when anyone dies of course. but then as i became more and more of a fan it just shocked me how such an amazing guy was actually gone. I still cant believe it at times. R.I.P Jimmy Oh and, i know what Ha! said was wrong (i wanted to punch him in the face) but by us wishing for his death that makes us just as bad as him... just saying :p

THE REV WAS NOT A DRUG ADDICT. HE DID NOT OVERDOSE ON DRUGS. HE DID NOT KILL HIMSELF. He accidentally mixed his prescriptions for his enlarged heart, anxiety, and painkillers together with alcohol. It is a commonly made error as many doctors fail to tell patients to avoid using several drugs at the same time.
Hey.....there are people who died of natural causes at young age. A friend of mine died of natural causes about 2 years ago at the age 20. He's a good boy, obey his parents, respect everyone. Well, I believe those who died at young age are called by the Almighty God since He loved them more than we do.....And their place is to be with Him, serving Him. And do not insult the death. Well let me start off by saying Jimmy has been and is missed dearly by his fans. Second, let me say to everybody who has said something bad about his death. You are forgiven for being such a heartless moron, obviously you have been hurt so bad by somebody (probably your parents for touching you as a child) that you have to talk bad about a dead man. Third, as one of the MILLIONS of Avenged Sevenfold fans, I'd like to Thank Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater for drumming on the Nightmare album. The autopsy results were inconclusive,but on June 9, 2010, the cause of death was revealed to have been an "acute polydrug intoxication due to combined effects of Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Diazepam/Nordiazepam and ethanol.

yeah i think that his death had some connection with drugs because you have to think about his lifestyle being in a rock/metal band or whatever. lots of people in bands do drugs anyway a lot of video's you see of him he seems to be drunk or stoned so no doubt it may have been drugs that caused his death at such a young age because a 28 year old dying of natural causes is it a bit strange.

"The Rev",i've looked up to avenged sevenfold for more than 5years atleast. i had just woke up to a text to finde out Jimmy had passed and my heart stoped as if i was related or new him personaly. avenged is the only thing that keeps me going on my guitar. the rev passing will change the band at heart forever but i believe they have what it takes to keep going,if they gave up now than thats there choice,this happning can even be a new beging of a new album,it's an impact that everyone may witness but it's one they can express outward and let us fans know there still the best out there.
