• Oh Gustavo Turner, you're sooo much cooler than Michael Jackson. I'm glad you can say snarky b.s. in an article and completely dismiss a man by calling him the King of Jesus Juice. How clever. Michael Jackson is such an easy target... but it's okay. When you're dead, no one will write about you. Not even in snark.

• I'm glad Spike Lee made this video, even though I don't regard the song itself as stellar, especially in the wake of the exploitation film, This Is It. Michael Jackson's death was tragic, as was the death of the other person who died on the same day, Farrah Fawcett. But what has kept my eyes so riveted to the aftermath of Mr. Jackson's death is the frenzied reaction from fans and foes, alike. Mr. Jackson was an incredibly talented man, who changed the face of music. But by the way he kept changing his facial appearance and by the way he publicly defended some of his actions, it was apparent he was a deeply troubled man. Insofar as the accusations that haunted him for the rest of his life, nobody really knows what happened, except him. Therefore, it is inappropriate to proclaim his innocence or guilt. All we know with 100% assurance is that he was human. To deitize or demonize Mr. Jackson speaks more about what people need from celebrities. Was he an angel? No. Was he a demon? No. He was a man, albeit a very talented man. I have a strong suspicion when he took off his pants, he looked like any other man, "down there." Why do we turn people into gods or demons? Especially when we don't know them? Isn't this disrespectful to them as people? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to concentrate only on the work any artist produces?

It's not like his work had any impact culturally, it's not like he affected music, art or dance or did anything as significant as make a seminal album that pretty much defines - timelessness. Heck, we all do that every day of the week. It's not like this guy did anything for anyone else either? Anyone can give away their earnings each night from the Victory Tour, the Dangerous Tour, visit countless orphanges before shows and put serious money into improving the lives of thousands of children. It's not like he donated the money he was given as compensation from the horrific burns he recieved during the Pepsi advert to a hospital for children. Or spent thousands of hours allowing children who had never seen wildlife animals to visit his ranch. Really, this sympathy for a man who went through a teensy little trial in front of the full glare of the worlds len's on the strength of the some rabid grifter mother's words - who incidentally had a history of lying to gain compensation. Hell, I had a parking ticket last week, but you don't see me crying do you? And don't even get me started on the money, time and effort, Michael Jackson invested into increasing compassion and awareness about Aids in the early 1980's when ignorance and lack of funding in the treatment of this disease was widespread. And that Heal The World Foundation - bogus surely? Everyone does this stuff, everyone helps out right? Don't they?
