• When I first heard that Jones & Richie were planning on doing a remake of the classic, I immediately stated on several blogs that nothing good would come of it and I was 100% dead, solid perfect. This is what always happens when the uber-leftist's - devoid of any singular, original thought their entire lives - try to "recreate" something that is specatular only once. It's like when you're a kid and you see a shiny new toy and it's facinating for about a day and then your friend shows up all excited with one of his own and you're "been there, done that and now over it" and that was the general reaction to this utterly unnecessary waste of time and money that would have been better spent DIRECTLY on Haiti. Rumors have it that the "donations" accepted so far don't even reach the 'break-even' point. Revisionist history is always an abect failure and this was no exception. Rap break-downs, Vince Vaughn (it should be fair to note that when Akroyd did it, he was pretty well resting on his Blues Bros. laurels and from what I know, can actually sing. And if you happened to waste the five-plus minutes of your lives watching this on the Olympics (I could only handle about two) you had all the verification of how bad of an idea this really was. I would have thought that with our technological advances, the audio and video tracks would have been synced up nice and tight, but that wasn't the case either and for all intents and purposes appeared to be thrown together as an afterthought, with only the purpose of "See? We care just as much about Haiti as they did about Africa." This was nothing more than an exercise in symbolism over substance, as again, the amount of money it took to do this would have been better spent going directly to one of the Red Cross charities already set up and NOT anywhere NEAR that piece of excrement, Wyclef Jean, who it appears has been using his Yeli Haiti charity to pad his own wallet, making him far and away the worse human being ever, which, when faced with such luminous assholes like that scumbag Kanye West or the equally deplorable Lil' Wayne, that's truly an a accomplishment. Sadly and worst of all, is that there are millions of brain-dead children who have MTV as a babysitter now see this aborrhation as being the standard by which all PREVIOUS efforts should be judged and that is pathetic. Pathetic, sad, but oh so VERY true and one of the best examples of why 'revisionist history' should be outlawed, with live in the Tombs on Rikers Island as the punishment. And the recording industry STILL can't figure out why they're going bankrupt.
