Mayer Hawthorne Is A Very, Very Sad Man
You'd expect Culver City soul sensation Mayer Hawthorne to be in a good mood, if not downright glowing. It's been only six months since the release of his debut LP, A Strange Arrangement, and already he's been covered by most major news/music outlets, become Stones Throw Records' fastest seller in history, and nurtured a bona fide bromance with Snoop Dogg. So what's up Mayer -- why so blue? Could it be because a super shitty jock-pop band called Anarbor is running away with all of the votes in mtvU's current "Freshmen 5" video contest? (And what's with the freshmen theme on West Coast Sound these days?) Hawthorne's new video for "I Wish It Would Rain" is playing below. Someone get this guy a lollipop.
