The whereabouts of Jneiro Jarel are a bit of a mystery.

Though the prolific underground producer first made his name in Houston opening for groups like the Pharcyde and the Geto Boys, he rose to prominence in New York as part of the extended Okayplayer posse, then relocated to Philly where the alias Dr. Who Dat? was born.

Jarel has since established himself as a spiritual and aural cousin to L.A.'s own Madlib, releasing jazz-steeped beat music via an array of assumed names and collaborations, working with DOOM, Khujo Goodie, Count Bass D and numerous others.

He's also become a fairly regular denizen of Low End Theory, which has fed suspicions that the talented producer has moved operations to our own fair city. Only days ago, Downtown-based Alpha Pup announced that it'll be distributing Jarel's new Label Who imprint, which kicks things off today with a fresh Jarel EP, Android Love Mayhem.

Another L.A. connection yields this grove-steeped remix. Jarel has long incorporated Brazilian funk and folk into his repertoire, so it makes sense that the folks behind the excellent Timeless series would tap him to rework an old tune by Arthur Verocai (whose work was honored in Timeless).
