Live in LA Tonight: Flying Lotus, Links, Ingrid Michaelson, Stanton Moore, the Head Cat
Whoever said the best things in life are free never got gouged for parking in Hollywood. So suffice to say a couple of the best things tonight are ... convenient. Flying Lotus -- his acclaimed sophomore album "Cosmogramma" having just hit the shelves -- plays a 7 p.m. in-store at Amoeba. And since you're in that neighborhood anyhow, it's only a short stroll to Space 15 Twenty's courtyard, where a couple of pretty tight local guitar bands, Vanaprasta and Links, will be roaring. After that, well, it'll only be 10 o'clock and Cahuenga is your oyster.
Elsewhere: Speaking of Cahuenga, songstress Ingrid Michaelson returns to the room that helped launch her career, the Hotel Cafe. ... New Orleans jazz-funk maestros the Stanton Moore Trio hit the Mint. ... And Lemmy turns off his Motorhead to team up with Slim Jim Phantom and Danny B. Harvey as the Head Cat, playing a set of their rockabilly at the Key Club.
Also: Carlos Varela at the Echoplex; Wiz Khalifa at the El Rey Theatre; Nicole Simon at the Bootleg Theater; Spirit Vine at Spaceland; Cannibal Corpse at the Viper Room; Cannibal Corpse at the House of Blues; A.J. McLean at the Roxy; Mississippi Man and Dirt Dress at 3 Clubs; the Atlantic Line at the Silverlake Lounge; Green River Ordinance at the Troubadour; Spindrift at the Echo; and Lady Sinatra at the Viper Room.
