Hip-hop group Get Busy Committee has no shortage of back-up these days. At yesterday's pre-party to hype tonight's May 12 Viper Room gig, the trio had major support from digital music pioneers Topspin Media, original game-changers MySpace Music, big man on campus Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, and perhaps the most popular and original "twittering tastemaker" in L.A. right now -- Kogi BBQ.

Despite only recently forming in 2009, the major show of support for Get Busy Committee on Tuesday evening came as no surprise when you take a closer look at the artists that make up this rowdy hip-hop group: Ryu (Styles of Beyond, Fort Minor, the voice of Crystal Method's "Name of The Game"), Apathy (Demigodz, Army of The Pharoahs), Scoop Deville (son of Kid Frost, producer of Snoop's "I Wanna Rock" and Fat Joe's "Ha Ha,") and most recently DJ Cheapshot (Styles of Beyond, Fort Minor, also the current touring DJ for New Kids On The Block).

The free food and music kicked off promptly at 6 P.M. in the Santa Monica-based Topspin parking lot, but if you were fashionably late like us (traffic, promise) then you missed out on surprise opening blues/mariachi band Trio de Deniro which included rhythm section Juan Alderete (The Mars Volta) and Jon Theodore (formerly of The Mars Volta) playing ZZ Top covers. Whoops.

After letting the crowd indulge in several rounds of spicy Kogi tacos, Get Busy Committee took over the parking lot pavement and kicked off a short set introduced by what we could have sworn was a "boys have a penis, girls have a vagina" sample from the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger gem, Kindergarden Cop. The group cites influences ranging from Eazy-E to Bell Biv DeVoe, so it's safe to assume that anything goes.

Catch the Get Busy Committee for yourself tonight at the Viper Room. They go on at midnight but we suggest getting there early because you never know what kind of hijinks you'll end up witness to.
