Frank Fairfield's 'Unheard Ofs & Forgotten Abouts'
Local Appalachian-styled superstar (this being a relative term) Frank Fairfield plays the Redwood Bar and Grill tonight, and you better be there.

The gig is, in part, a record release show celebrating Fairfield's fantastic compilation of rare, old folk music from around the world, called Unheard Ofs and Forgotten Abouts and due out tomorrow on his own Pawn Records.

In honor of this serendipitous confluence of events, Fairfield's been kind enough to give West Coast Sound a track to share -- an old, scratchy harmonica, guitar and voice gem called "Poor Convict Blues" by Slim Barton and James Moore.

L.A. Weekly contributor Jeff Weiss documented Farifield's extensive vinyl collection -- the source material for this collection -- in his October story on the musician, "The Man Who Wasn't There."
