Free Track from Manimal's Highly Anticipated David Bowie Cover Project: Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros' "Memory of a Free Festival"

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros are one of many local bands that contributed a tune to Manimal Vinyl's star-studded David Bowie compilation We Were So Turned On (aka Repetition).

Sharpe & the Zeros chose a deep-cut: Bowie's very early 2-sided single and album closer "Memory of a Free Festival," a bittersweet observation about the golden days of hippie gatherings (and the ancestor to Jarvis Cocker's brilliant "Sorted for Es and Whizz"). The track is 100% coherent with Edward Sharpe's boho caravan aesthetic, climaxing with the epic folk sci-fi chant "the sun machine is coming down and we're gonna have a party."

A couple of weeks ago West Coast Sound offered the track as a streamable link. For you download fiends, Manimal and the band are now offering the track as a free download through the My Old Kentucky Blog website:
