Scissor Sisters' new album Night Work -- three years in the making, and re-making (they scrapped 18 months of work and started over) -- is a typically frisky, preening mash-up of glam and disco that contains a lot of you're-gonna-have-to-be-there moments.

Fun, to be sure. But maybe not as rip-snorting as the New York's quartet's online "news" channel that features anchor Lester Zizmore chronicling the band's every move.

In the installment posted earlier this week, indefatigable reporters captured a backstage moment during which Scissors Sisters frontman Jake Shears and Adam Lambert swapped spit, as a mock-horrified Katy Perry looked on. Lambert, of course, denied involvement, in the kiss as well as other acts unmentionable on mainstream broadcasts.

Go ahead and watch, you know you're curious.

The band's third album and first since 2006 is creating a stir -- Scissors Sisters have been selected to support Lady Gaga on a leg of her Monster Ball tour next year. Has all the attention caught the foursome by surprise? Yes, singer Ana Matronic told Musicroom.net:

"I never thought the Scissor Sisters would make it outside of New York City, let alone outside of America. I thought we were just too weird and too gay for public consumption. I thought we were much more of a novelty and we'd never encounter success on such a level."

We suspect they'll do fine in Hollywood. Scissor Sisters headline the Palladium on Saturday.

Elsewhere: Pink Martini, joined by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and special guests Rufus Wainwright and the Sesame Street cast, among others, does three nights at the Bowl beginning tonight as part of the "Fireworks Finale." ... Sheryl Crow's new album 100 Miles From Memphis is an homage to Stax Records soul and '60s pop radio; she and her new band play the Greek Theatre tonight. ... Also tonight, New Orleans stalwarts Bonerama bring their brassy funk to the Mint.

Also tonight: The Watson Twins and Mini Mansions at the Bootleg Theater; Helen Stellar at the Echo; Dax Riggs and Useless Keys at Spaceland; Beak> at the Troubadour; Stealing Heather at the Viper Room; Andy Clockwise at the Hotel Cafe; the Business at the Key Club; the Devine and Never Shout Never at the Music Box; Freestyle Fellowship at the Roxy; He's My Brother, She's My Sister at the Redwood; the Ditty Bops at McCabe's Trey Songz at Club Nokia; Big in Japan at the Cat Club; Captain Ahab at the Smell; the Vandals at the Glass House; C.B.
