Watch: Actress Rain Phoenix Returns to Music with Papercranes' New Video, 'Synapses'
In a brand new video directed by Antoine Wagner (Phoenix's "Lisztomania"), we get a first glimpse at the new record from Rain Phoenix's Papercranes project, via the song "Synapses."
Rain Phoenix makes pretty pop as Papercranes on L.A.'s Manimal Vinyl.
The older sister of Joaquin takes a much different tack than her brother (so relax, guy), spinning arrestingly gorgeous folk-pop with a slightly psychedelic touch. Plus, some orchestral grandeur for good measure.
Papercranes dates back to 2003 -- and Rain has performed with R.E.M. and the Red Hot Chili Peppers among others -- but the upcoming Let's Make Babies in the Woods will only be the band's second LP, and it's due January 24 on Manimal.
Word is the nine-song album was recorded in an L.A. garage with a handful of musically inclined friends (we're willing to bet Flea slapped a few notes for it). The Manimal Vinyl site tells us to expect "darker themes," "rebellious melody and angry rhythms." We like.
