EXCLUSIVE Photos: Steve Jones's Debut at KROQ, Live on Air for the First Time in Two Years

• hey Fred, glad you agree with me. you'll note I said "I'm very glad he's spinning indie tracks on KROQ and will bring much-needed attention to those artists." my beef is with hand-job articles that overlook obvious faults (on-air burps and mumbling). high-five if you're with me!

• Pictchfork SUCKS!!!!!

• Bob, While you are clearly ahead of the curve with your pitchfork and kxlu fed discoveries, the majority of KROQ's 2.5 million listeners have not been so privy to such gems and are most likely hearing them for the first time on Jonesy's Jukebox. While you may think KROQ would be better off playing more Offspring and Linkin Park during those 2 hours, the many bands that Jonesy is exposing to the large KROQ audience probably appreciate the that he's playing them where they might find a new and larger audience.

• Late August of 1976, Rodney Bingenheimer, lit the flame of the torch for, 106.7 FM KROQ. Then Rodney, known to the listener's as, "Rodney On The Roq", ignited the musical flame more and brought much FAME & fortune to, many miraculous bands doors along with record label offers, after HE, alone was the first to play these bands via main stream radio! Has he stopped doing this mission for good Rock & Roll? NO! Like a true, LEADER, champion, and HERO, KROQ's flame has never gone out! Why? Simply due to the fact that Rodney Bingenheimer, takes time and listens, to every band that sends a recording to him. And he will find the next big band, like he always has and still does! I love walking down The Hollywood Walk of Fame, and glancing at, David Bowie's Star, right near his dear friend, Rodney Bingenheimer's STAR! Face the facts, if it weren't for "Rodney On The Roq", we wouldn't know who or have heard early on, often before any of the following bands were even signed, such as: THE SEX PISTOLS, BLONDIE, THE RAMONES, COLDPLAY, NO DOUBT, NIRVANA, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, BLACK FLAG, THE GERMS, PLACIBO, OASIS, RADIOHEAD, THE GO GO'S, THE BANGLES, DAVID BOWIE, NINA HAGEN, THE DEAD BOYS, THE RUNAWAYS, X, THE SMITHS, BLUR, HOLE, SOCIAL DISTORTION, DURAN DURAN, THE DONNAS, VAN HALEN, THE OFFSPRING, THE B-52'S, THE VANDALS- and the list goes on and on and on to this day! Thank You Mr. Rodney Bingenheimer, if it wasn't for you alone, I'd be and most of you also reading my post, would be listening to, Styx & Cheap Trick. ALWAYS BEEN A FAN & ALWAYS WILL!

• I miss Jonesy's Jukebox enough to tune back into KROQ for a few hours on Sunday. Jonesy's should be on the air until Rodney's show start. Dr. Drew gets the night off.

• I for one am no Indie dot com troll, but I can't see what the fuss is about Jonesy. He might be a swell dude but is it really necessary to declare that his "on-air burps, farts, whistlings, guitar noodlings and protracted ramblings" were somehow beloved when he was on 103.1? Frankly his show was the WORST part of that now-forgotten station. At least when they were doing the no-DJ format you could assume you'd hear some music instead of 15 minutes of Jonesy mumbling to his producer about something neither of them could remember, followed by a Vandals track he would misidentify on the back-announce. I'm very glad he's spinning indie tracks on KROQ and will bring much-needed attention to those artists, but let's stop the ridiculous worship. He's just a DJ playing artists I've already heard via KXLU, Pitchfork, MySpace, Diablo Cody movies, Spaceland, etc. etc.

• Hey you Indie.com trolls....Nobody cares. Get it through your head. Ever since Entravision fired all the people that made Indie what it was on the FM, nobody cares. Deal with it.

• Throwing around Pitchfork's newest recommended records isn't going to KROQ...who's average audience has no idea what pitchfork is...or Joneys for that matter. The average listener will will wonder: why is this guy not playing punk... sad day...

• Online or not...Indie is still better than KROQ.

• Indie.com is not run by the people who used to run it. You can't fool us so stop trying to fool yourselves. It's run by a paid intern who wasn't even there during Indie. You can all jump up and down and try to make people respect you, but it's pointless. It's so great to have Jonesy back on the radio waves playing great music for the masses. Indie can suck it for firing everybody.

• Kristen-- indie1031 is a pretty good online station brought to you by the folks who used to run Indie 103.1 before it went off the air when the format changed. Also, your hamster is not alive and well in a hamster farm in the Midwest. It died.

• FYI: Indie103.1 isn't dead. They made a conscience choice to move strictly to an online format. They are alive and well at http://www.indie1031.com/

• I'd rather listen to Bob Forrest on indie1031.com.
