WATCH/DOWNLOAD: From Oakland to Compton, Aloe Blacc, MED and Oh No Pay California Love on New West Coast Anthem 'Where I'm From'

Aloe Blacc pays tribute to the state he's in. Could this be the new "California Love"?

Oxnard rapper and Stones Throw artist MED doesn't eff around. When it comes to dropping singles, he goes straight for the broad-theme anthem, and always with a West Coast bent.

On "Where I'm From," he brings in the big guns -- L.A. soul revivalist Aloe Blacc and blunted beatsmith Oh No (Madlib's lil' bro) -- to back up his (correct) claims that "the best place under the sun" is, well, "right here."

West Coast Sound readers will recall MED's August release, "MEDical Card," wherein he celebrated his doin'-it-all-legal status. Check out the latest, and download the song, here:

There's a vinyl too -- 12 inches of it, with a Talib Kweli-featuring, Karriem Riggins-produced track called "Classic" on the back. Album out on Stones Throw in 2011.

What do YOU think? Is "Where I'm From" classic? How does it hold up next to the legendary 2Pac/Dr. Dre/Roger Troutman tribute, "California Love"? For that matter, how does "MEDical Card" stand up to Dre and Snoop's newly leaked pot anthem, "Kush"?
