Free Music: Beat Scene Titans Collide as TAKE Remixes Nosaj Thing's "Light #1"
Two of the most original voices in the L.A. beat scene come together on this fantastically lush remix of Nosaj Thing's "Light #1" by Take.
Nosaj Thing levitates in TAKE's hands.
We first met Nosaj Thing in May of 2009 on the verge of releasing his debut album Drift, now considered a classic entry in the local electronic music pantheon. On November 9, Alpha Pup releases Drift Remixed, featuring many of the artists we've come to know and love since.
Alongside reworkings by Angelenos like Daedelus, Teebs and Dntel are contributions from Jamie XX (that's Jamie, from the XX) and Brian Eno collaborator Jon Hopkins.
But our favorite is TAKE's entry, an upbeat revision that channels both the inventiveness of his truly great 2010 release Only Mountain, and the gooey warmth of chillwavers like Toro Y Moi.
