That's the kind of chewy, sweet electro-pop that New Zealand quintet the Naked and Famous has in its goody bag.

It's been almost two years since the group created some buzz at SXSW, and their debut album Passive Me, Aggressive You has not yet been released in the U.S. (although you can stream it here). But you will be hearing their insistent beats and hooky choruses soon enough -- perhaps the song "Young Blood," which was the first debut single by a Kiwi band in 16 years to reach No. 1 in their home country.

The Naked and Famous make their Los Angeles debut tonight at It's a School Night at Bardot, joined by impressive up-and-coming local quartet Hands.

Singer-songwriter Dar Williams, playing behind her new hits compilation Many Great Companions, holds forth at the Hotel Cafe. ...
