Soul in the Park is on to something. Recently Rani D. and the folks of the ambitious night in at Highland Park's Footsie's brought a string quartet into the dive bar. This Wednesday, Soul in the Park presents an uber-intimate performance by Airto Moreira, the percussion maestro who performed with jazz icons Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea. Moreira also had the distinct pleasure of working with Miles Davis on the incalculably influential masterpiece, Bitches Brew. This is a performance worthy of concert hall, but Soul in the Park brings some class to the neighborhood bar. Classy and free, what could be better?
