Henry Rollins Column: Rollins on the Attempted Political Assassination and Massacre in Tucson

You know...It goes like this.I am An Arizona native. Born in Tucson, raiesed in Phoenix for 49 years. Having been one of the very first people to find out about the shootings, (had info before the "news" ever got a hold of it). There are several matters to this issue. I don't know if I'll have enough room or time to address them all, but here goes.#1. The media/news. First it wass reported that the Congresswoman had been killed. I was flipping the TV back & forth between the local "news" & CNN. I watched our "fearless" leaders' face as he was given the news. Now, mind you, she was not dead. He immediately confirmed the false information that he had been given, that the Congresswoman was dead. That is SCARY. I was mortified to think that this happens in other states too? The local news NEVER said that she was dead.#2 Arizona has the absolute worst State/County/Local law inforcement in the country. Not their fault. Don't for one moment think that I don't respect law enforcement. We have some serious issues here. Our Governor is a moron. The drug cartels completely control the Southern part of our state. There are 8 kidnappings per DAY here, most are Amreican born Hispanics taht are taken and held for ransom. I know, One was my friend. They never come back. You don't hear about this anywhere else do you? People are getting mowed down in the streets. We have the "toughest Sheriff in the World" right here in Maricopa County. He's an international celebrity. SIC. Are you scared yet? You should be.#3 As my husband & I watched the drama unfold, I told my husband & I quote, " you watch, they are going to profile some loner in the Safeway & put him on the goon list". end-quote.Viola! Up pops a photo of a guy in a jeans jacket & had that "just doesn't quite fit in" look. He was a person of interest, but by the way, just call the police, don't approach him. Meanwhile, back to the dog & pony show. Congresswoman Gifford - I don't know her, but it's the same old story, all of a sudden she's everybody's best friend. Now I'm not a hater but doesn't this sound eerily familiar. You know, when the person was alive they had all kinds of negative qualities but now that they're gone, they are nothing short of heros. And here is the kicker, there were people that were DEAD. Nobody had anything to SAY ABOUT THE LITTL E9 YEAR OLD GIRL THAT WAS KILLED! Yes, I'm pissed off. There were regular people like you & me & our grandparents that are DEAD, but the focus is still on the Congresswoman. I'm getting nauseous just re-living it. You tell me, if there had not have been a Feredral Judge killed & a Congresswoman shot, do you really think that this story would have got the National Media spin that it did? Right. It was a tragedy & a travesty at the same time. But I digress.#4 The Gun law.Arizona is one of the last right to bear arms states. We are under CONSTANT scurtiny here. Believe me, every redneck fuck in the country wants to come here & shot "illegals" because the're taking our Jobs. Yes, it is as ridiculous as it sounds. I am a firm believer that every American has the right to bear amrs at all times. I mean, come on, if somebody would have ahd a gun at the store maybe none of those people would have got killed, right? Again, I turned to my husband & I quote." you watch, they are going to use this incident as leverage to take away yet one more of our rights". Voila! CNN went back & forth from their vigil at UMC & the countless morons that were saying if it wasn't so easy to get a gun this would never had happened. Please don't make me laugh. Again. I am still so angry that there was very little "coverage" of the grandparents, parents, daughters & sons that are dead. Bone chilling, isn't it.Now, our "Fearless" leader orders the head of the FBI to come here to find the dastardly villian resposnsbile for this. The news is flashing countless descriptions of people of interest & vehicles that we should be on the look out for. It was like a LMN movie set here. Now let me fast forward because I'm sure that al of you know where this is heading. ALL NIGHT LONG we are hearing about the competence of the surgeon for Congresswoman Gifford. Again, don't get me wrong, I have nothing bad to say about her, I don't know her. But is one person worth so much more than everybody else? I'm glad that she is strong, I'm proud that she is a Public Servant in the State that I LOVE & call home. I wish that we had more people "in charge" that have as much fortitude that she has. Again, I digress. So they finally find this moron & really, didn't he fit the proflie? I could have written this script & cast him exactly as he is. Which brings me to # 5. You know, this is wearing me out. Haven't we learned anything from our recent experiences with people that have severe "social disorders" & what the warning sings are? COME ON PEOPLE! PLEASE! This guy had psycho written all over him. That's the problem, everybody sees these people, they whisper about how fucking wierd they are & do everything that they can to avoid contact because it makes them feel uncomfortable. Feel uncomfortable you fucking cowards! There are people just like this fucking guy where you live. How would you live with yourself if it was your nine year old daugther, sister, niece or grand-daughter that got killed & you could have prevented it if you had the balls to pay attention? We are all responsible to create as peaceful world as we can, it's not everybody else's job, it's your job, it's my job. And with peace comes responsiblity. What happened here is horrible. If you didn't live it, you don't know. You can't just watch the news & believe that what you are being told is the truth, because in this case the truth was so twisted & contorted that I still don't know if any "civilain" from another state knows what happened here. Our President didn't even know the truth. I saw that with my own eyes. I am truly horrified to think that theer is the possibilty that what we are being fed is bullshit & half-truths. People please, I beg you you, be responsible, hold the media & government accountable. Dont' just sit back & have a drink & think that in the morning this will all go away. It's not going to go away & if we don't get off of our asses, we are going to leave a shit pile for our children. And by the way, where are they getting their information from? I don't know about anybody else, but I know what my daughter is being told in Social Studies. And I am constantly setting the record straight. Ther are kids in her class that think that Aparthied is the name of a vilian in the upcoming movie "The Avengers" & that "Blood Sunday"is going to be an upcoming WWF event. My goodness, what the fuck is going on? Again, I digress.Peace, my brothers & sisters. But please, be pissed off. And here is the real kicker, not that I give a fuck anyway, I'm not scared to tell the truth, that's my responsibility as much as it is my pleasure, I have to identify myself in order to tell my story. But I am comfortable being uncomfortable.

What I miss about the halcion days of punk and metal is the proliferation of tattoos and piercings and the accompanying plagues of hepatits A, B, C and HIV/AIDS.

An estimated 2 BILLION people on earth are now reported to be infected with deadly and debilitating hepatitis. Mulitple world health organizations have cited unregulated tattoing and piercing as a significant source of these plagues. Especially in 2nd and 3rd world countries where regulation of tattoo parlors are nearly non-existant. The culprit is re-used/dirty blood contaminated tattoing needles and inkwells.

Is this the same guy who wrote the lyrics to "Family Man"? I think Mr. Rollins is having a little memory loss. Or maybe just a "politically correct" selection of memory? The pics of the Arizona shooter show the face of a man who has been poisoned. I believe Mr. Rollins was well aware of the "police brotherhood" made up of ex-Military that operated within the LAPD during his early days in this city. Mr. Rollins needs to re-examine the piles of documentation on these "mind controlled" assassins and how it is done. As a musician who has run with the counter-culture for decades, Mr. Rollins knows this is going on but chooses to say nothing. Example: There's been quite a number of unexplained deaths of US punk rock musicians for many years. These are not "concidences". I really wish Mr. Rollins would wake up and smell the coffee. Suppose the Arizona Shooter was caught with a cache of Black Flag MP3's on his IPOD? Is this the same guy who wrote the lyrics to "My War"? How come the murder of Joe Cole remains unsolved? I am very sad to read that Mr. Rollins has lost the spirit of rebelliousness in his old age, as it is needed now more than ever. Hint: the initial punk rock explosion in the US started during the Jimmy Carter Presidency. In fact, it looks much like the current one now occupying the White House. Rise Above!

Here in Green Bay, I learned that this state has a process by which three or more people can collectively petition the Court to involuntarily commit a person to a mental institution. I learned this not by way of local media per se, but a local cop posting to story comments at the local paper's website.

I think what's needed is further de-stigmatization of mental disease, and greater public awareness of how to move someone into what is known as a 5150 out there.

Did the President, in fact, use the name of a "conservative talk host" or are you just imagining things? I did not hear him do that and can't imagine that he would.
