There is a cold front headed our way so you can either spend it huddled alone in your apartment, or out dancing, drinking, and merrymaking with friends and wellwishers alike. We think you should go out dancing, drinking (but not driving) and merrymaking, and have some events so awesome that we're sure you'll be inclined to agree! So get out and enjoy the Top 5 Things to Do This Weekend:

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 25: HOW TO DRESS WELL + SHLOMO + DEATH KIT

Tom Kress is into "post-Kantian" philosophy, which he has studied at a university in Cologne; otherwise, he is making what Pitchfork has called "narcotized, below-fi R&B" as How to Dress Well where he sings over beats in a mixture that is something like diaphanous indie-soul. He is in town this weekend and playing with hip-hop beatmaker Shlomo.

Where: the Echo
When: 8:30 pm
Info: 18+/$12

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 26: SPACE IS THE PLACE ROLLER DISCO

LA Weekly's DJ of the week, Riley More, is spinning at the Roller Disco. The Roller Disco only happens once a month so if you have a hankering to skate around in circles with your friends for awhile and then go upstairs and do some karaoke, this is your last chance in the month of February!

What: Space is the Place Roller Disco
Where: World on Wheels
Info: 18+/$12 admission which includes skate rental

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 26: DEATH + RTX + SIC ALPS AT THE ECHOPLEX

You might have seen our write-up on Page 2 about Death, the punk trio started in Detroit in the 1970s by the Hackney brothers. This Saturday is their first LA show ever; the above clip "Politicians in My Eyes", was described by Jack White as "ahead of punk, and ahead of its time." Indeed it was. Go see one of the first punk bands ever as they play their first L.A. show. It's worth the $14 and then some.

Where: the Echoplex
When: 8:30PM/
Info: $12 presale/$14 at the door/ 18+

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 27: NEW L.A. FOLK FEST PRESENTS MIA DOI TODD+THE DRIFTWOOD SINGERS + EMILY LACY

What better way to spend a brisk winter morning than listening to the enchanting tendrils of Mia Doi Todd's voice unfurl itself across the desert? Sunday is the last day of the New LA FolkFest Desert Weekend wherein hippies, hipsters, music lovers, and desert-dwellers venture out to Pappy and Harriets for a week of wine, women, and song. One of those women is Mia Doi Todd. Yes, it's far. But you only live once.

Where: The Joshua Tree Saloon
When: 11 am - 2 pm
Info: see the New Los Angeles Folk Fest page.

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 27: BESTIAL MOUTHS AT ORIGAMI VINYL

Bestial Mouths rip through songs as though they are hot knives searing a path through melting butter. Rowdy and raucus, they're a high energy group whose earlier 7" -- pressed by Family Time--went fast as hotcakes. Free and all ages as always, courtesy our friends at Origami Vinyl.

Where: Origami Vinyl
When: 6 pm
Info: All Ages, Free
