X Japan's U.S. fans are a patient bunch. You've waited almost two decades since the band initially formed for this moment. You may have heard about the influential Japanese rock group's L.A. video shoots back in January of 2010, caught the acoustic benefit show in July of that year, the Lollapalooza gig or saw their first North American tour last fall. You may have even read about X Japan founder Yoshiki in LA Weekly's "Best of L.A. People" issue. Now, the big moment has finally arrived. X Japan's single, "Jade," will be released throughout the Americas and in Europe on June 28.

The single, written and produced by Yoshiki, was initially planned for a March, 20101 release. This was postponed in the wake of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. The members of the band were in Japan at the time working on their forthcoming full-length album and Yoshiki, well-known for his charity work, immediately shifted focus to fundraising for earthquake and tsunami relief, his efforts inspiring fans.

"Jade" was recorded both in Los Angeles and Japan. The band is currently finalizing their next album as well as touring. They're playing a sold-out show at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on the day the single is released.

I agree if you don't know who they are why bash them?

I personally enjoy X Japan for the last few years, and excited about Jade and a new cd. Yoshiki is also one of the kindest artists in the world with his charities and giving back to the less fortunate unlike so many who are only about themselves.

X-Japan rocks! Being able to release a single in America is an amazing accomplishment! Especially with how close minded westerners tend to be!

It would be nice if Liz Ohanesian actually read her article or had a fact checker read her article before letting it go to print.  Nothing discredits a writer faster than wrong facts. Jade's release was planned for March 2011 and was postponed due to the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in March 2011 - not March 2010!

I hope Ms. Ohanesian is never allowed near a member of X again, it's disgusting that she did not bother to pay attention and get the facts correct during the interview.

@450464d9b938fd74fe002c192f8023dc:disqus CHILL OUT. I've seen much worse from Western news outlets; some are even related to X Japan. I've seen one's where they call Yoshiki, "Toshiki", or say Yoshiki is the lead vocals, etc. Why go off the deep end over a simple typo of 2010/2011? god lol you made it seem like she just completely butchered the whole story.

If I dared make the same mistake in an article I would have been fired immediately from the paper I write for.  I hold my work to a high expectation, all journalists should hold themselves to the same high expectation. Wrong facts are wrong facts, regardless of how minor others may perceive them.

who? and I'm supposed to care, why?

Yoshiki is an amazing person. You should strive to be more like him, especially with your idiotic comments. Howard Stern did the same thing...obviously neither you nor him know anything about good music. You're supposed to care because it is amazing.

Good luck in life...you will have a hard life ahead if you continue to act as if the world revolves around you.

Don't ever listen to them, I'd feel real bad if you'd listen to the same music I do.

Nobody said you have to care. It's a choice we all have to either enrich our lives by trying new things and staying in tune with world culture or just sticking to the status quo. I just happen to choose the former.

So just because you don't know who they are it isn't news worthy and you bash them? How would it be if it were a band you knew of and loved and people said the same thing about them? Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't realize that you were the only one in the world and all the news has to be stuff you want to read about.

The reason you SHOULD care is maybe you could keep an open mind and look into the band and find a new group to listen to.

@Guest, if you have nothing positive to say then don't say anything at all. X Japan are an amazing band who are making their worldwide debut this year. Why not open your mind to something new without being a closed book. You're an example of the main problem in the West when it comes to foreign music.

YOSHIKI's actions also inspired Xplosion & Yoshiki.fr (mainstream european fansites) to create a charity project which will take place during the european tour in Paris and Berlin: Break The Darkness http://bit.ly/iITCe1 A glowstick "sale".

Note: Break The Darkness is the name of an X JAPAN song
