Beavis and Butt-Head Returns to MTV October 27: Here's Our Top Ten Music Video Moments From the Old Show

It's official: The Beavis and Butt-Head re-boot now has a premiere date on MTV: Thursday, October 27th at 10PM.

Exciting for fans, but will it be as edgy as it once was? When it debuted in 1993 Beavis and Butt-Head displayed a pathological lack of compassion for others that was almost shocking, but nowadays sex, violence, and dudes getting punched in the genitals is all over the internet. No matter, for many viewers, what really held the series together was the characters' piss-taking of then-popular music videos. Just about every genre got skewered, from death metal pioneers Morbid Angel to '90s one-hit wonder Scatman John and even LA Weekly columnist Henry Rollins. ("Dammit, just when you think something cool's about to happen, he starts showing off how strong he is.")

The Beavis and Butt-Head revival will not only skewer music videos, but comment on YouTube videos and reality television such as Jersey Shore and 16 And Pregnant. But it will be hard to match the pure whimsical, dopey glee of the original series, as Mike Judge and company set the bar pretty high the first time. To show them what they're up against, here are the Top Ten Beavis and Butt-Head Music Video Moments.

10. Bjork - "Big Time Sensuality"

Sometimes instead of making jokes and cracking wise, it's best to just be blunt and tell the truth.

9. Nine Inch Nails - "March Of The Pigs"

Beavis and Butt-Head are curious about how Trent Reznor gets his pants so shiny. The end of this segment also features one of the best-timed sound effects in the history of the series.

8. Mercyful Fate - "The Bellwitch"

While watching this video by the influential 80's metal group Mercyful Fate, Butt-Head explains why vocalist King Diamond is the only member of the group who wears facepaint.

7. U2 - "Mysterious Ways"

Beavis and Butt-Head speculate on what Boner's childhood was like.

6. Loverboy - "Working For The Weekend"

Beavis and Butt-Head reflect on other things that happened on the day that '80s one-hit wonders Loverboy played the State Fair. Note: The original footage of this video does not appear to be online at this time; this one contains a clip from the original music video with the Beavis and Butt-Head dialogue that aired dubbed in the background.

5. Cinderella - "Somebody Save Me"

Beavis and Butt-Head re-enact the conversation that '80s glam rockers Cinderella had with their stylist at SuperCuts.

Loverboy were not one hit wonders.  They had a lot of hits.

Hah, I was just getting ready to say that. "Working for the Weekend" wasn't even their biggest hit, "Lovin' Every Minute of It" was. But hey, what does it matter? It's Beavis and Butt-head, uh huh huh huh huh.
