Last shots at Summertramp; see Sunday.
(Editor's note: Sunset Junction has been canceled. Here is our complete list of bands that have been rescheduled.)

Even without the Sunset Junction, this is the one of the biggest party weekends of summer, boasting plenty of dance-your-ass-off festivities heading into Labor Day next weekend. Fair or no, Silver Lake still has the haps. Here are the best ones, plus a couple Hollywood hoedowns too.

Fri., Aug. 26
Expect disco, funk, hip-hop and pop from Netherlands' aptly named Funkerman at Departure. The dance club has definitely been living up to its name of late, and Funker's fierce dance music (as heard on Flamingo Recordings) is sure to keep folks on the floor flying high. Tara Broks and Riley Warren open the main stage, and the outdoor patio (hosted by Chemistry LA) will feature J-Cut & Jake Peterson along with David Moses. At Vanguard, 6021 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. www.auburneventsla.com or www.homemadela.com

Sat., Aug. 27

UPDATED FROM PRINT VERSION: Spark Plug mag had planned to have its Pizzapalooza party in the parking lot at Garage Pizza, but with SJ canceled, they were forced to move the event. It'll now be at the Redwood Bar & Grill, hosting bands like Doggy Style and Threeway, not to mention DJs, Karaoke, a pizza eating contest, and lots more cheesy fun. Free. 316 W. 2nd. St. Downtown. Facebook invite here.

Who needs the Junction when ya got the Conjunxion? Another all day rock-a-thon featuring bands and DJs goes down at Anthony Giancola's brand new What Cheer? Bar. It's called Conjunxion Festival and it promises outdoor bands and vendors, plus late night DJ sets from Passion Pit and Wavves. JUST ADDED SUNDAY LINEUP FEATURING BANDS MOVED FROM SJ: Olin & the Moon, Manhattan Murder Mystery, Damselles and the TC4, He's My Brother She's My Sister, and Peg Leg Love. More TBA. 3213 Beverly Blvd. (enter through the alley). Facebook invite here.

L'Amour, a poly-sexy party on the outdoor patio of Mi Alma Garden, will feature an impressive array of DJs and dance music. B.C. will perform, and spinners include Angel Clouthier aka Galactic Angel (Paul & Andre's), DJ Trident (Mother L.A.) and Nic Alvarado. 1901 Echo Park Ave. Facebook invite here.

More parking lot rocking will happen at Firelight, a lil' fuzz fest behind Silver Lake Lounge. There will be a ton of bands including Firebug and Drunk on Crutches, plus DJs in between. BYOB. 3005 Del Monte Dr. Facebook invite here.

Dinah Cancer's Vampire Ball, a decidedly more decadent destination, will bite into Bar Sinister later Saturday. A live performance by goth legends 45 Grave, plus Inferno of Joy and burlesque from Szandora LaVey round out the sonic blood-bath. (It might even be gorier than last week's, Zombie-themed, 13th Anniversary event). Also, a book release gathering for Michele Hauf's Forever Vampire with free book giveaways, and the usual dance floor lashings courtesy of clubs DJs Amanda Jones & Tommy. Blood cupcakes and "smoking Dinah cocktails" are promised. 1652 N. Cherokee, Hollywood. www.barsinister.net

Sun., Aug. 28

The wildest parking lot party of them all, Summertramp marks its last splash of the Speedo season with DJ sets by Aaron Colbert, Aaron Elvis, Daisy O'Dell, Josh Peace, Nelstar and Valida. Gay and mixed high-jinx, fabulously flamboyant get-ups, water slides and jello shots will all be part of the fun. At Tony's Saloon, 2017 E. 7th St., downtown. www.summertramp.com

Part Time Punks is always a great place to end SJ weekend, and even with it not happening, you should head over. Or check it out after Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at the Plex downstairs. With Sea Pony, Craft Spells, Grave Babies, and Young Prisms on stage, and Michael Stock's always spastic DJ sets, PTP will party you out properly, E.P.P. (Echo Park Punk) style. 1822 Sunset Blvd., Echo Park. www.parttimepunks.com

Peaches DJ Extravaganza Festival at Freak City: read all about it here.

Hope the clubs/venues that opened up to the bands and fans have a great crowd and fill their coffers. I guess the permit people want to be lumped in with Walkill, NY. Remember the event they turned their noses up to in 1969? Not that SJ would ever be near that level but any prospective business person might take their futureĀ ideas and ventures elsewhere due to the current negative atmosphere.
