Cosmic rave-like excursions, fetishistic extravaganzas, undead dance orgies, Chinatown birthday blowouts... it's another week in party picks. Enjoy!

Fri., Aug. 12

A decade ago Club Underground opened its doors at Tempest on Santa Monica Blvd. Unlike most clubs, it was able to not only survive, but flourish after moving across town to the Echo midway through its existence. Now, promoter Larry G has announced it will once again be changing ground. He hasn't revealed where yet, but the popular indie/Brit pop night seems likely to endure. We'll keep you posted when we find out. In the meantime, this Friday will bring together all the DJs who've spun there for a foot-stomping, hair-flinging farewell: Dia, Larry G., Mark, Diana and Clifton. Plus there'll be a Pulp theme with give-aways and a Jarvis Cocker look-a-like contest. The DJs will be late, and the bands, Love Grenades and Fonda, early. 1822 W. Sunset Blvd., Echo Park. Underground blog here.

Das Bunker celebrates the 30th anniversary of DJ Franck H-Bomba -- founder of the famed L.A. industrial club -- with a hard throttling dance party in his honor. Franck spins along with DJ Sergio Delirio from Barcelona. 4067 W Pico Blvd. www.dasbunker.org

Sat., Aug. 13

Do you love a man or woman in uniform? Then Studio 69 has your party, an entire evening devoted to military and service attire called "Dressed To Serve." The postman always rings twice, and so does the UPS guy. The possibilities are endless: nurses, maids, cops, firefighters, schoolgirls, and of course the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines! 69's parties are always over-the-top affairs and this one, which has moved to The Dragonfly from Vanguard, should be no exception. DJs and live performances all night. Prepare to WORK it. 6510 Santa Monica Boulevard. www.perish69club.com

One of the longest running gothic and dark-themed clubs in Hollywood, Bar Sinister, marks another bewitching year (lucky 13 to be exact) with a special celebration featuring Zombie Girl (aka Renee Cooper), plus DJs Tommy, Amanda Jones. John C, Satoki and Joe Letz (Combichrist). Free T-shirts & goodie bags. Picking up pre-sale tix a good idea; decadent dress-up a must. At Boardners, 1652 N Cherokee Ave. Hollywood. www.barsinister.net

Club AM/FM at the Grand Star in Chinatown is always a fun, fairly-intimate dance party, but this Saturday promises to be its most high frequency fete yet. There will be multiple birthday bashes (the Leo lovin' continues!) for Matador Y Toros photog Gerry Acuna and Club Underground's Larry G, who both will get on the decks. The evening will also feature sets by Wendy City and Alex Transistor. Expect dance-your-ass-off indie, funk, disco, retro party jams all night. 943 N. Broadway. Facebook invite here.

Trip out (in more ways than one) in the Psychedelic Desert, an excursion which takes place not too far outside of L.A. (The "secret location" is an hour and half from downtown). The ravey electronic dance gathering takes place, according to the organizers, in "another dimension, somewhere in between the worlds of reality and infinity, somewhere outside of the boundaries of your own imagination." In other words don't plan on being sober. Scheduled DJs include NY's Frankie Bones, SF's D.R.C., and L.A.'s Jonathan Morning, Liquid Fish, Diva DJ Egypt, Bulimiatron, Anthera, Haos Ninja, plus many more, not to mention vendors, art installations, and fire hoopers. Parking and camping are included in the $22 cover, and pre-sale tickets are available here.

This is XTRNL Music. Our event got busted on Saturday Aug 13 2011 by a plethora of Sheriffs in a sting operation/raid. The entire staff was detained for hours and all of our cars were searched due to what the police claimed to be "probable cause". XTRNL Music does not condone ANY drug possession or usage of illegal drugs in any way, shape or form. In fact, even though the original event post was deleted, we still have copies dated prior to the date of the event clearly stating: NO DRUGS ALLOWED!!! As responsible promoters, we have done everything in our power to promote this as a peaceful, friendly, non-illegal event.

The event post (please see above) describes our event, titled "The Psychedelic Desert", which subtly alludes to narcotic use and/or illegal intoxication by using the phrase "In other words, don't plan on being sober", which is an OPINIONATED statement, made by the journalist who wrote this article.  We believe this post was a major reason as to why the police showed up and illegally shut down our event.

The promoters of this family event have lost thousands of dollars worth of deposits and arrangements because the event was abruptly, violently and illegally discontinued by Sheriffs. Guns were drown out towards the arriving cars, people were provoked to come to the event with drugs in their pockets by cops who took our cell phones and talked to patrons pretending they were the staff, items were illegally stolen and/or seized from our vendors by Sheriffs, when we asked for a police report, we were told "we don't have time for this right now" our female patrons were sexually harassed and generally demeaned by the police officers' behavior, as well as many other violations of our human rights. A full size Sheriff's jail bus full of people finally drove away with a number of either entrapped or completely innocent people on board.

We sincerely apologize to all our dedicated patrons who never got to spend time with their friends enjoying the gorgeous outdoor setting on a legal private desert spot listening to their favorite artists who had to travel and prepare for their sets only to find out that the festival got raided. We make every effort to provide patrons to our events with a friendly, drug-free environment and even though we make great efforts to obtain permission to use private land we are still constantly hounded and harassed illegally by the very same police officers who are paid, by us, as United States citizens, via immense amounts of our taxpayers money, to protect and serve our rights.

Therefore, due to the above description, we will be making every effort possible to remedy the situation and ensure that popular publications, such as LA Weekly, are not allowed to disrupt the events in any way shape, or form, as this is not their business to do so, nor should their actions have any bearing on the results or actions conducted at the events. We believe it is a direct result of this publication's publicly printed opinion, and release of non-approved and/or verified personal information, that our event, as well as possibly two other events that night, were illegally raided and shut down by law enforcement.
