Sunset Junction's cancellation -- and the organizers' seeming subsequent disappearance -- has had folks scrambling to get their tickets refunded. Now, a week later, there has been some progress.

We reported earlier today that those who bought discounted $10 ticket holders at the Silver Lake Farmer's Market can get a refund there Saturday and Tuesday. Now, ticket vendor Origami Vinyl has announced that they'll begin refunding tickets as well, following a surprising visit from festival director Michael McKinley.

According to their post, ticket holders will be refunded for both the ticket price and their service fee. Refunds will be provided in-store in exchange for the ticket and the receipt.

Store Manager Sean Stentz tells us that McKinley came into the store personally earlier today, bringing with him the funds that the festival owed. Stentz was shocked. "We had no idea we were going to get the money back, until today," he says. "We weren't interested in hearing [his excuses], we just wanted to sort who would be responsible for exchanging the tickets."

Refunds will apply only to the 100 or so tickets purchased through Origami. Tickets from other retailers will not be accepted, and there's no word yet on how others will be made right. Stay tuned to West Coast Sound for more updates.

Here's a crock of s*** for all you bands to that have to deal with this skank. From the L.A. Times last friday; "Jennifer Tefft, who's helped book the festival since 2001, slotted the majority of the acts for 2011, her biggest influence on the festival yet. "I really feel for every single person affected by this," she said. "If I had known that [organizer Michael McKinley] didn't have a permit in place, I wouldn't have approached these bands." Does anyone believe she did not know how much trouble the fest was in? Flag

Jennifer Tefft (Sunset Junction and Sattelite booker) was quoted in the Times on friday saying "If I had known Mckinley was such a deadbeat I would never have booked bands at the festival" Us bands find that VERY HARD to believe considering how tight she was with the festival organizers. We suggest she find another mode of employment.

I've seen this "quote" all over the place but it only seems to exist in comments sections on L.A. Weekly. The actual quote:

Jennifer Tefft, who's helped book the festival since 2001, slotted the majority of the acts for 2011, her biggest influence on the festival yet. "I really feel for every single person affected by this," she said. "If I had known that [organizer Michael McKinley] didn't have a permit in place, I wouldn't have approached these bands."

Your sentiment may be correct, however.

Jennifer knew all along, she just didn't care.About two weeks before S.J. 2011, I spoke to one of the organizers whom I've known since middle school and he told me that there was a big chance that the festival was going to be canceled... The Thursday before S.J. 2011 that same person told me that the festival was off...

Yes, I was paraphrasing. Thanks for posting the actual quote. Does anyone believe her now?

Y'all should be aware of some BS laid down by one Jennifer Tefft (Satellite booker and Sunset Junction booker). A friday column in the LA Times about the cancellation quotes her saying "If I had known Mckinley was such a deadbeat, I would NEVER have booked ANY bands at all" Us bands find that VERY HARD to believe! She was pretty tight with this guy and must have known about the unpaid bills for YEARS! So all you bands out there that have to deal with this skank should know this.
