Critical Bias: The one and only non-Tribe rap CD my wife owns is Wu-Tang Forever, so you just know they sold a lot of them fuckers.

The Crowd: People who know the difference between the West coast "W" hand sign and the Wu-Tang "W" hand sign.

Random Notebook Dump: Inspectah Deck is a much better name than Deck Inspectah.

No one cares about real hip hop? What the hell do u really know about the culture, Ben Wackhoff? Ur a shit writer and any thing u have to say pertaining to hip hop has ZERO credibility. What part did u have in this culture other than your corny writing and pessimistic outlook? Its a shame that a goofy ass white boy has a forum as editor of this once prestigious Weekly. Ur shitty book sucked and now ur sucking the life and credibility of this website along with it. I hope u get canned soon and save us from having to stumble upon ur trash again.

"...after his production style took a turn for the subtley cinematic," eh? How about some publication's copy editing take a turn for the "subtley" correctly spelled?

I saw the show in Anaheim and thought it was damn good, even w/o Rae and Ghost. Plus it only cost $20. Check my blog for video from the pit: ImperfectEnjoyment.com

all one needs to do is google the author of this articles name, look at his picture, and then decide how credible he is.  Oh, don't even bother reading his "best-selling" book on southern hip-hop, unless you're white and gullible.

Wow! Congrats on being racist.

Gee thanks, you shouldn't have. I'm sure all your volunteer work down at the NAACP, and those long mornings reading to innercity kids, has really propelled you into such a vaunted moral position.

I loved the show and venue! Wu brought da mutherf'in ruckas. This guy is an a*s clown that doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. Dissin' Cappadonna and Street Life like they haven't spit fire on many of Wu's albums? C'mon. Who cares what a critic thinks.

I'm going to have to disagree with the author of this blog entry. Regarding the energy that was the most energetic I have ever seen the crowd at the Nokia Club. That show emmulated 90's Hip Hop to the fullest. I was in the middle of that mosh pit in the front and I felt like a teenager all over again! The clan lyrics and coupled with old school production beats is more than enough. Seriously man, "dancing girls on stage," you watch to much MTV bro...

yeah hip hop shows are notoriously less satisfying, performance wise, than one could possibly expect. Wu tang is already at a point of equivalent artistic and commercial influence upon music as well as pop culture as the Rolling Stones. Rae and Ghost should be there, but they're overrated in Wu tang anyway, anyone who's not just a casual listener ( or say a music journalist writing about a topic well outside of his element) knows they're the most popular ( along with meth) and best selling, but arguably not the group's best (Gza fairly unanimously considered best lyricist, Rza made wu tang and he's the leader for a reason, Inspectah Deck and U-God consistently have more potent, harder hitting, and more informed verses than their more well known counterparts ( deck vs. rae on C.R.E.A.M.).  On the topic of Wu-tang doing this tour for money alone, come'on none of them need to be doing this that badly( RZA's producing, and his now more than ever flourishing cinematic career make much more than touring). Wu tang forever

Your claims are subjective and dubious. If you would have rather seen Cappadonna and Streetlife than Rae and Ghost you were probably the only one. And if you're saying U-God hits harder on record you need to find a better drug dealer.

This guy is wack. What does he expect from a group hip-hop show? Plus, Cappadonna can hardly be compared to "Buddy Biancalana,"-- he is one of the group's hardest hitting members and certainly deserves to be taken seriously. Study up before you make bold claims about lesser known MC's.

Dude, Buddy Biancalana hit some pretty hard singles up the middle.
