LOL, for your rant on the Sex Pistols, you claim Sid Vicious is untalented, yet you show a pic of the original bassist Glenn Matlock. Glenn Matlock was a great bassist & recorded their album with them. Sid Vicious played on one song, Holidays in the Sun, which was an admitted rip-off of The Jam's "In The City". Sex Pistols were a tight live band before Glenn Matlock was kicked out. Sid Vicious had the terrible spot of learning how to play bass on the job. Johnny Rotten wasn't derivative, he genuinely didn't give a shit and is known as listening to anything but punk. His influences were all reggae acts, according ot the interviews he did in the 70s on Capital Radio, which can be found online if you care to actually do research.

Notice that none of these bands with the exceptions of Foreigner, Black Eyed Peas, and maybe 4 Non Blonds produced mainstream music. Notice that most of these "critiques" comprise of attacks on qualities and opinions of a personal nature such as "a nasaly voice,""won't interview with us," and a dislike of lyrics instead of established facts with one or two truly bad bands thrown in to "legitimize" the article. Notice that most of the bands listed are bands with hybrid styles and that none of the well known producers of low quality, cookie cutter, if you heard one, you've heard them all made this list.  Several of these bands listed were the pioneers of a new sound, bands who appealed to people not wanting to stick with top 40 run of the mill trash. Seems like these blokes prefer artists who sold an image rather than quality music.  Who the hell wrote this article?  Publicists working for the RIAA?

The whole point of this article was to create click-through and advertising traffic. These dicks would throw their mothers under a bus for a little ad revenue. They don't believe the stuff they are writing themselves. The whole point is to create controversy and traffic. It's an old ploy and I can't believe people still fall for it.

OK. I think it is pretty clear that Anna Westhoff needs to lay off smoking bath crystals and snorting Drano...see her GLOWING review of The Livng Sisters and compare it to the above. I am no Oasis fan, but she rags on "Wonderwall" for being "pure nonsense" and then gloats over a "band" whose most (un)popular song "How are you doing?" in utterly atrocious (don't believe me, check out the video on youtube)! Oh and she can't forgive the above for "ripping off other artists songs" yet the album being released by The Living Sisters (and being reviewed by Ms. Westoff, apparently) consists of all cover songs! WTF?  EPIC FAIL!

The funny thing is some of the greatest musicians of all time carried these bands, Neil Pert greatest rock drummers, Paul McCartney enough said, Linda Perry could wale especially on the bridge to Morphine and Chocolate if you ever heard 4 non blondes cover of Misty Mountain Hop it was amazing, The Eagles had three amazing song writers in Walsh, Fry and Henley, and could play great rock n roll,  If you want to talk great bass players you can look at Flee from the Chili peppers.  

I would have omitted Hootie - solely because he's wearing a "Silos" t-shirt - and put INXS in their place. Otherwise, no issues.

I made an account just to comment how much rubbish this list is. Some of these bands are complete shite but Rush, RHCP, Pearl Jam?  What kind of crack rock are these authors smoking? Way to be "cutting edge" by saying some of the greatest bands are terrible you bunch of posers. Worst list of all time top 20, this takes the cake.

If you like Rock, Jazz Rock, Progressive Rock, Art Rock, Hard Rock, drums, guitars, bass groove lines, intelligents lyrics and intenses, melodics and emotionals voices... RUSH is the best band in this Galaxy. 40 years of awsome tours, awsome concerts, awsome CD's, awsome videos, awsome live performances, awsome creativity.... You can didn't like RUSH for sure, but RUSH in top 20 of worst band ever? For sure you don't know why RUSH is an awsome band! So .. We apologize...

Look at the source...LA Weekly? Anything coming out of Cali and LA is total bullshit and who really pays any attention to them? They live on another planet. Rush, Eagles, Foreigner, Pearl Jam? REALLY??? Someones jealous over the TALL cash all these bands have earned over there quite successful and LONG LASTING careers.
