The Bathroom Situation
The porta-potties at Coachella were truly repulsive. As the festival progressed, the combined waste of 90,000 accumulated, for lack of a better word. By Sunday not only was it unbearable to be inside one of them, they reeked for a great distance. And God you be barefoot (as many Coachellians were): the floors of the more disgusting units resembled Jackson Pollock paintings. The only opinion was to plug your nose and hope you didn't catch anything, since toilet-seat covers were nowhere to be found. Even worse, in the crush of people exiting after the Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg show, some assholes thought it would be funny to shake the units bordering the campgrounds -- while people were inside. It wasn't. -Kai Flanders

Worst Headgear
Nothing says "Stay away from me boys, I'm crazy," like wearing a wedding veil to Coachella. Here comes the bride! -Neda Salamat

Douchebag Balloon-Popper
Sometimes, even at Coachella, people are assholes. Everybody loves the giant balloon strings that stretch across the Empire Polo grounds. They're fun to hold on to; the sensation is sort of like flying a kite. But one giant douchebag -- some white dude in wayfarers and a white tank-top -- was witnessed grabbing the string of balloons, walking a few steps, pulling out a pin (he had a fucking pin!) and popping a balloon before letting go of the others and walking off anonymously. Bystanders mostly stood around, mouths agape, mellows completely harshed by the incident. -Adam Lovinus

I didn't catch Gotye's show, but I did swing by there to meet up with some friends on the way to Justice. The "fair-weather fans" comment, to me, seems only partially true -- of course people were waiting to hear "Somebody I Used to Know," but it's also the case that a festival like Coachella can involve some pretty heartbreaking time conflicts. My friends who left in the middle of the set like Gotye, but they like Justice more. They wanted to see as much of Gotye as they could, but they didn't want to miss any of Justice. So what luck it was that he happened to play "Somebody" in the middle of the set! Consider, then, that people didn't leave because of some sort of ADD and they were just tired of Gotye; rather, everyone was probably doing what they'd had to do all weekend -- maximize the number of shows they were able to see by leaving some of them early.

I gotta agree with the size of the crowd at the Co Flow show. They were one of the reasons I went to Coachella this year. I wasn't disappointed but its a shame the crowd wasn't as large. But I love the fact that El-P appreciated the fact that people remembered them. Its been almost what 15 years since they performed in LA so it was still awesome. What was sad was I was the only person in line other then ZIA employees waiting for an autographed poster. Oh Well...

I manage to get an autograph before they left. It was an awesome moment.

It humbles the Douche Bags that go there.  Nice balance.

the portapotties were not that bad at Coachella. i have seen and smelled way worse!!! the worst being at the Outside Lands Music Fest were the waste was actually a huge mountain with the peak being a good foot above the toilet seat. THAT was disgusting.

There were nicer facilities on the fairgrounds, if you knew where to look. Nothing better than being able to take a nice peaceful dump in a relatively clean stall.

But even THOSE toilets were heinous by the end of day three. Bunch of fucking savages.
