Coachella 2013 Dates Announced: Tickets Go On Sale Thursday

UPDATE: General admission passes are $349, including all fees.

Next year's installment of Coachella will once again be held over two weekends, April 12-14, 2013 and April 19-21, 2013. Tickets go on sale this Thursday, May 17, 2012.

Mighty early, this announcement, no? Here's why...

Tickets went on sale later for the 2012 edition -- in June 2011 -- with another batch released in January this year, after the lineup was announced. (They sold out immediately.)

Due to concerns from neighbors surrounding Indio, where the festival is located, the fate of the 2012 event was shrouded in uncertainty, and the city of Indio delayed signing a contract with promoter Goldenvoice. This was due to concerns from the neighboring town of La Quinta about the event's environmental impact.

But such hurdles have been largely cleared this year by Goldenvoice's purchase of some 280 acres surrounding the festival grounds in March, paving the way for today's announcement.

Coachella 2012, held last month (see our full coverage), was expanded to two weekends for the first time, and was widely seen as a success, at least on the financial front, even if the Tupac hologram was creepy (and should have performed "California Love").

Are you stupid? the reason they are selling tickets now is so they can sit on the money for a year in a bank account and collect interest. there is no other reason— it's called pure greed. These guys are assholes for doing this. They don't give a shit about the fans. Which is obvious if you have ever been there.

They were 315 last year if you included fees, I paid 630 for two general admission tickets for 2012.

It was very similar last year, they posted a picture on Twitter with a date, and then you were directed to purchase the payment plan tickets on their site. The presale was June 3, 2011 and the General sale happened at the beginning of 2012.

Not sure if you saw this, but GA tickets this year are $70 more than last year. $349 compared to $281 (without the service fees)

Mine was $320, including $29 in "service charges" and $10 in "delivery fees." It was $41.00 the first payment, $34.10 the next seven and $40.30 for the final one.

There was actually an advanced sale for this year's coachella too. This one is only a couple weeks earlier than the one they did last year but I don't remember them doing a huge announcement for it.
