Maya Jupiter played during Abe Vigoda's set, but those who missed out got a chance to catch her when she came on during her husband Aloe Blacc's performance. Watching two extremely talented people who are very much in love preform together was a treat. Blacc absolutely killed it; he's got pipes, he can flow, and he dresses like Frank Sinatra.

"You Make Me Smile" had every couple in the place holding onto each other. And during Blacc's massive hit "I Need A Dollar," which ironically has put many dollars in his pocket, the crowd parted down the middle to allow for a impromptu line of swaying dancers. That song seems to resonate with people on a deep level, maybe it's because of its catchy beat, maybe it's because it captures how people feel about living in a recession. Whatever it was, we put our hands up and cheered.

Personal Bias: I'm one of those guys who's always annoying people by pontificating about "localism," so I'm inclined to like community events.

The crowd: Lots of families.

Random Notebook Dump: As per usual the literary stage was sparsely attended. It seems we writers don't have same pull as musicians.
